New Clover Kids Club Coming A new Clover Kids club will be starting up

this fall… Elk River Clover Kids! This club will

serve the Andover/Elk River Township area.

Details are still coming together but the plan

is for enrollment to open September 1st

through 4hOnline. Any youth in K-3rd grade

are invited to enroll. Questions? Reach out!

Do Clover Kids do record books? Nope! :) Our K-3rd grade members do NOT

complete a record book. We would

encourage parents/guardians to have a

conversation about what your Clover Kid

enjoyed about this last year. This could help

parents/guardians identify their youth’s

interests as they grow into 4-H. Looking for

Controlling Weeds in the

Landscape Every garden has weeds and dealing with

these unwanted plants is an ongoing task

in any landscape. Control of weeds is

important. Weeds are strong competitors

for available water, nutrients and sunlight.

Reduced air circulation created by tall

weeds encourages the development and

spread of foliage diseases and a weedy

garden often has more insect problems.

While a completely weed-free garden is

not attainable, reducing weeds is

beneficial.

This week's Yard and Garden column

comes from Aaron Steil, consumer

horticulture extension specialist with Iowa

State University Extension and Outreach.
