JOB REQUIREMENTSUnder the direction of the Facilities Operations Coordinator, the successful candidate performs a diverse range of unskilled and semi-skilled park maintenance related tasks. Task includes grass and turf field maintenance, clearing paths and trails, raking, pruning, watering, fertilizing, edging and gardening within the park and boardwalk areas. You must enjoy working outdoors and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination required to perform heavy manual labour in all types of weather. The successful applicant will also be responsible for general janitorial duties as well as the maintenance of all grounds equipment and buildings within the park.
REQUIREMENTS:Must have a previous horticultural experience including landscaping, turf maintenance, flower & tree planting. A diploma in horticultural or park maintenance is preferred
Experience in one or more of the following is a definite asset: small equipment operation such as power mowers, riding mowers, chain saw, trimmers and aerator; construction, janitorial and general maintenance duties throughout the park.
Interest in parks maintenance and sports field management is an asset.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must have a valid Driver’s License and must also obtain a criminal record check prior to beginning employment.
First Aid and CPR training is required
Candidate must have completed high school and hold a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
Salary: Unionized position - $21.71/hrs.; 40 hrs. /wk.; a premium for those with a diploma or certificated in the related field.

Physical Activity Pilot Project – Girls 6-10Dear Mr. Deschamps,
Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador and the Inclusion Grant Review Committee would like to thank you for your recent submission for the Inclusive Recreation Pilot Site Funding Program (Phase 2). A selection committee was established to review all submissions based on specific criteria that we were looking for including; program sustainability, program reach, uniqueness, magnitude of barriers, partnerships and leveraging of resources, duration of the program and in-kind supports.
We are happy to announce that your submission was successful in receiving funding, resources and training to assist with your program and to ensure that it is a success.
The following is a break down of what your site will receive: - $1,800.00 Monetary Funding- $500.00 worth of training
Also attached, is an agreement form that you must complete and send back to the Recreation NL office at (709) 729-3814. Your payment will be processed within 2 weeks of your agreement form being received.
Please note that Recreation NL will be collecting information and data to assist us in evaluating the funding program and will request that you submit a final report about your program/project with pictures of the program included as well.
