Lot: 54A Handwritten Journal, reportedly by Sir Ian Hamiltoncommander in chief Mediterranean expeditionary force 1915. Itappears to be his final report written to the secretary of state forwar and published in the London gazette on 6th January 1916.Running to many pages in covers the period from March 1915,16th October 1915. There is also a 2nd report looking at Navalwarfare during the same period. The documents are written inthe unused log of a Royal Navy ship. *There is no provenanceto show the handwriting is that of Hamilton. General Sir IanHamilton was appointed commander in chief of theMediterranean expeditionary force in March 1915. A campaignmade infamous by the landings at Gallipoli, Hamilton wasrelieved of his post on 16th October 1915, a move that in effectended and illustrious forty year military career.
