This is a free, non-ticketed event, so please bring the whole family, and feel free to contribute to the collection at the end, if you wish to. We can never be quite sure, but expect that the evening will finish at about 8.30/8/45pm. There will be an interval, and our wonderful PTA will be selling refreshments to raise funds for the school. Drama Club students need to be at school, in costume, by 6.45pm at the latest. If they are also performing in band or choir, they should bring their clothes to wear for that with them, and can change in the interval. Performers in Drama Club should ideally wear something bright red, yellow/gold or purple, along with dark trousers/leggings/skirt (or coloured bottoms and a dark top). No family is expected to go out to buy something special for their child to wear for the performance. If your child doesn't have anything in these colours, they can either wear all black, or come and see me or Mrs Child on Monday or Tuesday, so that I can sort something for them (as I have a few bits and bobs I can lend if needed). Our final Drama Club rehearsal will be on Tuesday in the Hall 3.40-5.15. Full attendance is essential! Music Department: Boys Choir - Monday lunch time. Junior Choir - Thursday lunch time. Book Fair: Last day Monday 21/10. Lots of books available to buy. YOGA is back: please speak to Ms Burman if you would like to join. Thursday lunchtime in the Drama Studio.

We will again this year be sending all the donations made for our Harvest Festival to The Wallingford Food Bank. The food bank

supports families in need locally. Last year our donation was the single largest donation made to the food bank, we hope that your generosity will allow us to make another substantial donation of items to the food

bank. The food bank has a shortage of the following: Tinned rice pudding, tinned custard, tinned fruit, long life milk, long life fruit juice, drinking chocolate, corned beef, sweets, chocolate, treats, toothpaste,

shampoo, shower gel, sanitary towels, size 4 nappies. Please make sure that all items are in date

and have a least a 3 month shelf life. They have plenty of pasta, baked beans, soup, tomatoes chick peas and kidney beans and would be very grateful if you would please try to find something else to donate

instead. Please no fresh items. Thank you

Wanted - a new Governor for Langtree School Langtree School, having just achieved one of its best-ever GCSE results, and consistently ranked in the top 20% of all comparable schools nationally, is currently seeking a Finance Governor to join a dedicated and energized governing body. As well as participating on the Board, the new governor will be expected to join the Finance sub-committee which is responsible for overseeing the school budget and major spending decisions. They will work alongside fellow governors and staff to ensure that Langtree continues to deliver a fantastic academic, social and cultural education, with abundant pastoral support. Although a background in finance is desirable, it is not essential, as we are primarily looking for someone with a good track record of fact-based business decision-making. Governors are expected to attend two full meetings per term, plus committee meetings (usually another two meetings per term), and to involve themselves in the life of this small, and highly popular local school. The Governing Body would be glad to hear from interested parents, but would particular-ly welcome applications from members of the wider community. Anyone who is interested should contact Jan Seal-Roberts (Chair of Governors) [email protected] Wanted—Exam Invigilators: Invigilators help Langtree to support students in both internal and external exams. We have a list of people that carry out this role, we would like to add to this list. The role is a temporary one and pays £9.00 per hour. We now need to add to our list of invigilators. If you are interested in this role or would like to find out more information and an application from please go to the vacancies section on the school website. https://www.langtreeschool.com/vacancies/

ASSEMBLIES At the Parent Forum last academic year parents requested some information about what themes were covered in our assemblies. Please see below a list of topics. This table comes with a strong caveat that there may be changes to

the assembly depending on external factors. However, I do hope it gives a flavour of our diverse programme. The Assembly Schedule will be published at the start of each half term.

Please could we remind all parents / carers that if you are dropping students at school or parking to visit school that you do so in a considerate and

We have put together a number of one day courses which we are running for children over this October half term, and we are also planning a term long “Art Club” which will run from January for 12-15 year olds with Ann Spencer (a local artist and teacher) as the tutor, which will be like a mini art foundation course and amazing training for any budding artists headed toward GSCE's.
