•A set of principles used to create harmonious color combinations and relationships.

•Represented by the color wheel

•In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton developed the first color wheel.

•Light is made from all the visible colors and is called the color spectrum.

•Rainbows display the color spectrum.

•The colors always display in the same order.

•The primary color wheel consists of three colors. These cannot be made by mixing other colors. All other colors are created with these three.

•Red•Yellow•blue

red + yellow = orange yellow + blue = green red + blue = purple

These 3 new colors are created by combining colors that are side by side on the primary color wheel.

•Blue gives a feeling of coolness.
