Wilson and Ruth Dalgas UpdateYWAM Dallas, Texas ~ November 2011
Dear friends,
After taking a year off to be with family and friends in Indiana, I (Ruth) am back on the mission field! I
came to Dallas earlier this year to pray about moving here and working with YWAM in Dallas. I had been
thinking and praying about that since I transitioned from Chicago. When I got here, I was pleasantly
surprised when I met Wilson. He was here in Dallas for the same reason, to see about moving here to work
with YWAM. God confirmed the move for both of us and we spent a lot of time together that week,
resulting in our first date before we both left. A week later, he arrived in Indiana where he met my family friends and we went on to Chicago to meet my YWAM leaders there. We both knew early on that this was
from the Lord and both traveled back and forth a lot.
We got married on Sunday, October 16in Indiana and had a wonderful day with family & friends from ne
and far! Ruths long time pastor married us and YWAM Chicago director Brad Stanley spoke in the
ceremony. We had a mix of many different cultures and nations at our wedding with people from Papua
New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga, India, Brazil, Cuba, Nepal, Mexico and of course, North America who are friend
of ours through church and YWAM. Here are a few photos to show you our wedding day!
We drove a few days later to Dallas, TX and dropped off o
belongings and wedding gifts at the apartment before driv
to a resort a few hours away for our honeymoon. The reso
was paid and given to us as a wedding gift by a YWAM
family. It was a blessing to have this time. We have now
been settling into our new home here. The apartment we li
in is a property of YWAM Dallas. The church where we
have our kids programs is just a block away and we are
across the street from the YWAM office. We are reallyenjoying being part of the community here along with oth
staff and young guys that live in the Timothy House. We a
both helping out with after school programs and kids chur
Wilson also helps with a lot of maintenance around the base and with an outreach on Tuesdays to a nearby
apartment complex. I (Ruth) am doing the accounts and some communication. The YWAM Dallas team
blessed us with an Island wedding Reception at the YWAM base. We had a great time with our friends and
the neighborhood kids. There was an Island Breeze team here from YWAM Sydney, Australia and they did
Island dances from Tonga, Fiji and Samoa! It was a blast!
HOTOS on next page: Wilson & Ruth with Emele, YWAM Dallas staff from Fiji. Her husband Ofa is from Tonga a
at is him doing the fire dance. They are very close friends of ours and live next door. The group photo of the Dallasception is a mix of friends, family, co-workers and kids from the neighborhood.
