Early in his career, he worked in the international arbitration group ofAllen&Overy.Sincethen,Stevenhasdevelopedanextensiveinternational arbitration practice and now acts as lead counsel in multiple ad hoc and institutional international arbitrations conducted inmanycountriesaround theworldandsubject toawidevarietyof governing substantive and procedural laws. He has built aformidable reputation acting in international energy cases involving explorationandproductiondisputes,engineering,procurementandconstruction disputes, power purchase disputes as well as a whole range of commercial/corporate disputes concerning joint ventureagreements, shareholders agreements and other financial andcommercial agreements.

Iain K Clark is a Solicitor Advocate, Partner and Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution at Gilson Gray LLP. Heisahighlymotivatedandproactivespecialist litigatorwithawealthofpracticalexperienceand knowledge gained over more than 20 years.

Biography of David Byron,Managing Director, BCHW Global Ltd

David Byron started his career as a Mechanical Engineerworking for Imperial Chemical Industries. His first commercialposition was as a mechanical quantity surveyor working on the design and construction of jackets for North Sea oil and gasplatforms. He thenworked as a Senior Quantity Surveyor forAramco in Saudi Arabia on various onshore and offshore oil and gas projects. Upon returning fromSaudiArabia heworked asa Senior Quantity Surveyor on the construction of North Seaoffshore oil production facilities.

Since then, David has been Head of Contracts for Shell UKExploration and production, responsible for all commercialactivitiesonthedesignandconstructionofasemi-submersiblerapid intervention vessel; Head of Third Party agreements forSarawak Shell Berhad inMalaysia, responsible for running adepartment placing all third party contracts for the company in MalaysiaandinLondonastheheadofcontractsfortwomajoroffshore oil and gas projects in the North Sea. Upon leavingShell, he worked as a Director for Cleveland Bridge Ltd, withresponsibility for worldwide procurement, including all material purchasing and subcontracting. He also held responsibilityfor all projects in China, in particular construction of amajorsuspension bridge across theYangtze River. During this timehewas involved in amajor arbitration with large constructioncontractorsbasedinHongKong.SinceleavingClevelandBridge,hehasworkedastheCommercialDirector forMarineProjectsInternational, an offshore construction contractor working on offshorewind farmprojects.

Recently,Davidhasbeenproviding commercial trainingundertheCEMPL(Dundee);bespoketraininginMalaysia,AfricaandtheMiddle East; and has worked as a part-time Director forOffshoreMarineManagement Ltd, Econnect Construction LtdandMPIConsultancyLtd,withresponsibilityforthecommercialoperationsofthecompanies.RecentlyDavidhasbeenprovidingcommercial training for both in-house and public courses andis also involved in providing commercial support to various companies working in the Construction industry - in the UK,throughout theMiddle East and inAfrica. He has also beeninvolved in several arbitrations, both as a commercial support/projectmanagementandasanexpertwitness.
