A Local Participant in our latest video, “The Many Faces of Diabetes”

Local participants are interviewed for each video

Videos are used by health promatoras in their in-home educational visits and in local hospitals and clinics.

The Videos help open up dialogue between the health promatoras and the participant

Personal look at diabetes and the effects it has on the individuals living with it.

research done by HHP in conjunction with the Idaho Health and Welfare Department was used to show that if left untreated it could cause further complications such as blindness, kidney failure and amputation.

Through the stories of the participants in the video the emotional side of diabetes was addressed as well the complications that arise from the disease.

This year, HHP is beginning a new program entitled, “El Mundo en Tus Manos/The World is in Your Hands”

After learning all the techniques teens will:

Create their own multi media project about a problem facing Hispanic Teens in their area

First Workshop with new Teen Program

Juana, a participant in our first workshop with teens listens and records as a fellow teen tells a narrative story

HHP held our first teen workshop in December 2007 in which teens:

Used images we provided to create a photo essay

Wrote a narrative story to go with the images

Recorded their story in both Spanish and English

Created a Narrative Photo Essay using Final Cut Pro

Teens prepare to say their narrative in Spanish

Is with our teens of today

Is in the lessons we learn from each other

Is in the understanding that there are different models of education

Is in knowing that we can use different media to promote the message
