Community Engagement January highlights

• January saw the lowest level of complaints on Tractivity in over 18 months while an upgraded enquiry system was tested and

implemented.

• Main Site Forum was hosted on 9 January

• The intention is to reduce the frequency because most issues have been solved and the remaining few have resource

allocated to them.

• The Independent Advisory Group meeting took place with ASC Chief Constable, where SDC announced it is running one of the

national pilot schemes to counter serious and organised crime such as people trafficking and county lines (no suggestion that

risk is exacerbated by HPC)

February highlights

• The Transport Forum set for 31 January had to be cancelled due to adverse weather. As a result, the Transport Forum merged

with the Community Forum which took place on 7 Feb with the highest attendance ever.

• A series of key local stakeholder visits took place, including visits from Taunton MP Rebecca Pow, Somerset Chamber and the

new Chief Executive of Somerset West and Taunton Council.

• Mendip District and Somerset County Councillors visited HPC to aid their understanding of the challenge of transporting

aggregate.

• Radio 4 visited and recorded a programme at Sedgemoor Campus, which was broadcast on 15 February.

• Tunnel Boring Naming ceremony took place on 8 February. 75 primary school pupils and teachers attended the event (some of

whom are pictured here), which was widely applauded on social media.

March highlights

• Hosted the official opening of Sedgemoor Campus with Ian Liddell-Grainger MP.

• Turf cutting ceremony was held at Withycutter Pub housing development in Bridgwater. 6 flats and 3 houses are part funded by

HPC Housing Fund.

• A book launch was held at Cannington Court on archaeology found during construction of Cannington Bypass.

• Sedgemoor District councillors were briefed on workforce accommodation matters. The headlines were:

• 3787 workers on site, 50% of whom are home-based

• Sedgemoor Campus running at c20% occupation currently

• Councils have generated over 1,800 bed-spaces to date using our Housing Fund

• For now there is plenty of accommodation for HPC workers
