mechanical projects &Civil, Steel Structure, Onshore & offshore. We

SECTION I - HSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM POLICY
1. Introduction
HERO STAR has always been committed to the safety and welfare of its employees,
customers, contractors and all others who may be affected by HERO STAR activities
and operations So HERO STAR has developed this Health, Safety & Environments
Management System (HSEMS,) to fulfill its commitment to health, Safety and
Environment (HSE) within the organization and more importantly to manage HSE as
an integral part of the company's activities.
HERO STAR HSEMS is tailor made to fulfill -the requirements of its customers and other
related HSE requirements, local laws, regulations, and international standards where
applicable. The management system conforms to the requirements of OHSAS
18001 and ISO standards and specifications
This documents the structure for the management of health, safety and
environmental issues within the Company, Detailed guidance is provided in a
number of supporting procedures. The HSEMS and associated procedures are
documented to ensure that activities, conditions and tasks affecting health, safety
and environmental protection are planned, organized, executed, reviewed and
improved.

Near Miss Prevent chain of events could have resulted in fatality, injury, illness, and /
or damage (loss) to assets, the e environment

Occupational illness any work related abnormal condition or disorder other than an
injury which is mainly caused by exposure to environmental factors associated with
the employment. It includes acute and chronic illness or diseases that may be
caused by inhalation absorption ingestion or direct contact.

Whether a case involves a work- related injury or an occupational illness is
determined by the nature of the original event or exposure that caused the
case, not by the resulting condition of the affected employee An injury results from
a single event, cases resulting from anything other than a single event are

from a work incident or from an exposure involving a single event (or a number of
linked events close together time) in the work environment. Injuries are caused by

insect bite, or from one-time exposures to chemicals are considered to be injuries.
Work related events including overexertion. that aggravate a preexisting condition
are deemed to be injuries.
Performance Indicator A vital sign indicator showing the extent of successful
performance against set criteria overtime.
PPE Personal Protective Equipment. The Collective term describing clothing and
equipment used to protect the individual against agents hazardous to health.
Proce Procedure A documented series of steps to be carried out in a logical order for a
defined operation or in a given situation.
Review (HSE) Periodic review of HSE performance and effectiveness of HSEMS by
means of documented performance data. HSE review is conducted at multiple
organization levels in varying level of detail. Risk is the product of the measure of the
likelihood of occurrence of an undesired event and the potential adverse consequences which this event may have upon:
People — injury or harm to physical or psychological health
Assets (or Revenue) — damage to property (assets) or loss production
Environment -water, air, soil, animals, plants and social
Reputation - Employees and third parties. This includes the liabilities arising from
injuries and property damage to third parties. Risk : Frequency x Consequences
Risk Assessment The process of determination of risk, usually in a quantitative or
semi-quantitative manner. It is an evaluation of the likelihood of undesired events
and the likelihood or harm or damage being caused together with the value
judgments made concerning the significance of the results.
Risk Management Waste The process of implementing decisions about accepting or
alerting risks. Any material to be disposed of as being of no further primary
use including solid, liquid and gaseous effluents.
