Fresh food, cold beverages, effective medicines ...

When buying a product, few people spare a thought for the industrial processes involved in their manufacture or their transportation.

Food and beverages must be produced and stored at certain temperatures to maintain their quality. The same applies to pharmaceuticals.

During transportation to distribution points and the consumers, products also need to be contained under certain specified conditions.

At the same time, energy must be saved. It is vital, that companies reduce their over-consumption and pollution levels without compromising the performance of their process and product quality.

The demand for better quality control, increased production efficiency and reduced energy consumption has therefore never been greater. Furthermore, process control applications must be optimised to operate accurately - all day, every day.

Based on the demands for better quality control, increased production efficiency and reduced energy consumption in a wide variety of industrial processes, temperature and pressure must be accurately controlled. Data from the applied measuring equipment however does not always provide the required accuracy to the process.

Before the measuring equipment can accurately control the process, the equipment itself must first be measured accurately. This is important since data from temperature and pressure instruments directly affects the quality of the products produced, the efficiency of production processes, and the quality of the products delivered to the customer.

As a result, a growing number of industry customers are requesting calibration of their in-process measuring equipment and even of their own calibration equipment.

AMETEK Calibration Instruments offers a complete programme of instruments for calibration providing the highest measuring accuracy ...

I n n o v a t i v e i n s t r u m e n t s m e e t i n g c u s t o m e r n e e d s

AMETEK Calibration Instruments invented the first ”floating ball” deadweight tester for pressure calibration back in the 1960s and the first temperature dry-block calibrator back in the early 1980s.

Ever since, we have continued to develop innovative and easy-to-use calibrators to meet the new requirements within process and quality control, where the demand for faster calibration instruments with higher accuracy and better stability is increasing.

Our R&D departments consist of highly skilled, experienced engineers and software developers who monitor new technologies and work closely with customer contacts to develop even better calibrators that satisfy our customers’ calibration needs.

We have the commercial and technological know-how that are the hallmark of a leading global manufacturer and developer of calibration instruments for temperature, pressure and process signals as well as temperature sensors.

Our main brands are JOFRA for calibration instruments, FP for temperature sensors and M&G for deadweight testers.

As an experienced and leading developer of calibration instruments, our main concern is to manufacture and deliver high-quality instruments – quality without compromise.

Our calibration instruments are designed and manufactured in ISO 9001 certified facilities.

Prior to shipment, strict functional tests verify instrument performance specifications in various environmental and operational conditions. Our products are calibrated against traceable reference standards using internationally accepted metrology procedures. Certificates are issued to document the calibrator’s compliance with performance specifications, traceability and measurement uncertainty.

Our strict quality policy ensures constant high quality in all our products and services. To support this we:

• Develop processes that produce products and services in compliance with customer and market expectations, needs and demands

• Measure and survey process results, e.g. customer satisfaction, to ensure our quality control and that processes continue to improve

• Update documentation to ensure that processes comply with requirements

In the early 1980s, Frank Schiessl and his wife Johanne founded the Danish company JOFRA Instruments introducing the world’s first temperature dry-block calibrator. The basic idea was to supply portable temperature calibrators to the industry in general, where demand for performing calibrations was increasing.

In 1945, Frode Pedersen & Co A/S was founded, specialising in imported equipment for electrical temperature measurements. The company began producing temperature sensors in 1950 and became a leading Danish manufacturer of industrial temperature sensors.

AMETEK Calibration Instruments

In 1991, AMETEK Inc acquired JOFRA Instruments and renamed it AMETEK Denmark A/S. At this point, AMETEK Denmark A/S and AMETEK’s existing pressure calibration manufacturer Mansfield & Green became the business unit AMETEK Calibration Instruments. In 1997, Frode Pedersen & Co A/S was acquired to gain in-house knowledge of the temperature sensors being calibrated in the temperature calibrators developed and manufactured by AMETEK Calibration Instruments. In 2010 AMETEK Calibration Instruments became a part of the AMETEK Test & Calibration business unit.

In 1966, Mansfield & Green introduced the deadweight tester based on the “floating ball” principle. This deadweight tester is an extremely easy-to-use, reliable and accurate primary standard and is now earning its reputation as the “standard of standards”.

World-leading company within temperature, pressure and signal calibration

Our researchers are continuously developing calibration instruments for temperature, pressure and signal calibration e.g.:- In 2000, we introduced the unique ATC series of dry-block calibrators - the portable calibration laboratory - In 2007, we introduced the world’s first dry-block calibrator providing fast, accurate calibrations down to -90˚C- In 2009, we celibrated our 25th anniversary and intoduced the outstanding RTC series, with the innovative patent pending DLC system, intelligent plug’n’play sensors, and many other new features. We also introduced our HPC series, with the unique

built-in electrical pump

At AMETEK Calibration Instruments, we will continue to develop innovative, easy-to-use calibration solutions.
