Planning gives a community

the framework and process to

examine its core values,

create a vision for the future

and work toward achieving

that vision.

Undertaking long term plan-ning helps communities to address current needs and build on existing strengths, while preparing for the future. Community development that is driven by a community plan strengthens governance, fo-cuses decision-making, aligns priorities with resources and ensures a more cost effective use of resources. It gives a community the framework and process to examine its core values, create a vision for the future and work toward achieving that vision through

strategies, objectives and imple-mentation plans. Like all forms of planning, it enhances the proba-

bility and capacity for success.

Some benefits of CCP: ♦ Enables community to

define vision for future

♦ Reinforces community

values ♦ Provides opportunity for

community healing

♦ Exemplifies transparent

governance

• Health

• Education

The Comprehensive Community Plan will become a tool used by the Chief and Council as a stra-tegic guide to achieve the Leq'á:mel members vision as de-termined by their community. This vision will include member decisions to reflect their agree-ment for management and de-velopment of the following 9

key areas:

Who will benefit from this process?

Who will implement the Plan?

How will your plan be used?

Comprehensive Community Plans can also help to build sustainable rela-tionships with other governments, municipalities, financial institutions and for potential business partner-ships. Comprehensive Community

Plans benefit everyone.

Your Comprehensive Community Plan will be used as an effective tool to build a healthy and sustaina-ble community. Comprehensive Community Plans are currently being used by many First Nations in BC to achieve short and long term goals that meet the needs and dreams of the communities. CCP increases the capacity for success

for First Nations.
