INDUSTRY INPUT DRIVES OUR PROGRAMMINGEnhance Tech Collective’s membership value proposition by assessing engagement with and demand for new programming
Membership development starts Q1’18 with diverse engagement. Initial monthly events will include:• Knowledge sharing - Tech speakers and panels will share successes, challenges and lessons learned related to current technology
trends (e.g. Operational Excellence, Risk Management/Cybersecurity, Container Management and CIO Forum)• Learn by doing – Instructional, hands-on workshops and training to promote new skill development/enhancement (e.g. how to
assess or configure new tools for a new website)• Human resource development – Timely conversations promoting developing RI’s Tech Talent Pipeline (e.g. How to build meaningful
professional relationships)
New programming pilots: Host monthly /bimonthly professional development events for members (e.g. Leadership Challenge Workshop with Tim Hebert) Increase cybersecurity awareness and provide actionable examples for assessing institutional readiness Changes to this approach will continue to mature over the 3 years to meet the changing needs of the marketplace and requests of
employers Topics will broaden as membership grows, new partnerships are formed and market needs develop

• Gartner, Inc., a leading research and advisory company, published findings from their 2017 CEO and Senior Business Executive Survey, which asked, "Which leadership mindset or behavior most needs to change to enable digital progress in your enterprise?“ Analysis of the responses yielded three major clusters around open-mindedness, entrepreneurial behavior and a collection of behaviors needed for digital business execution that CEOs expect. Behaviors that were identified include:• Understanding differences in how people prefer to make decisions, communicate and deal with conflict. • Participating on and/or leading teams that are built on trust, purpose, engagement, commitment, collaboration — and enjoyment.• Leveraging agile and flexible relationships and collaborative work patterns. • Courage, communication and credibility
• Tech Collective, in partnership with the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI) at URI, will offer training and programming to address the needs above in addition to the needs, such as DISC assessment and problem solving, of our employer partners and the workforce. OSI will deliver a customized training program to an initial cohort. This first cohort will function as a pilot and will be fully evaluated using different methods to ensure the best outcomes.
• An Advisory Council of Industry partners will be formed to provide continuous feedback and assist in shaping the program.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS TRAININGDemand driven & employer led: the top pain point we hear from employers is that employees are lacking essential soft skills.
Sales Training and Business Development
Leadership Challenge, led by Tim HebertTo be held February 1-2, 2018. Two day professional development seminar that teaches attendees the five fundamental practices common to extraordinary leadership achievements. Attendees will leave equipped with a framework they can leverage to become more effective leaders.
Industry Led Advisory Committee: The WIT Initiative is run by an Advisory Committee who meets monthly, comprised of industry and community leaders.
Members include: Carousel Industries, Trilix, BEO Studios, NASA, RI Quality Institute, FM Global, AIPSO, Millennium Consulting & Amica Insurance
Educational Workshops: TC hosts 2-3 per year with topic feedback directly from the Advisory Committee and mentor program participants.
Q1’18 workshop: Beyond Networking: How to Build Meaningful Professional RelationshipsBeyond Q1’18 workshops: overcoming workplace and career roadblocks, mindfulness at work
Leadership Training: TC will run an Advancing Workplace Excellence Leadership Training, created specifically for women in the technology field.
Women in Tech Meetups: The Advisory Committee and extended group will have 1-2 women in tech meetups per year at a restaurant/bar. This is a networking and sharing opportunity for women in the technology industry to come together and find common support
Mentor Program: Starting in 2018, TC will run the WIT Mentor Program twice a year: February – May & October – January (the program was previously run only once per year). The Mentor Program’s mission is to connect women to create a mutually beneficial professional relationship geared toward professional and leadership development. Since the inception of the program in 2012, it has served over 110 women. We hope to expand the reach of the program by offering it twice per year. The goal for each cohort is 16-24 individuals, creating between 8-12 mentor/mentee pairs per cohort. Both mentees and mentors receive required formal training prior to entering into the mentoring partnership. They also participate in start and end of program surveys. The surveys provide participants the opportunity to benchmark progress, uncover problems and recommend improvements or adjustments to the program design.

WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGYThe Women in Technology (WIT) initiative aims to inspire and collaborate with women in the technology field through education, mentorship, networking and common support activities. With the direction of the WIT Advisory Committee, the group is able to focus in on relevant opportunities for growth that result in business solutions, professional advancement and personal growth.
P-TECH is designed to accelerate students through high school and college so they can be trained and ready for employment in the high tech sector. Students earn a high school diploma, an industry- recognized associate degree in Computer Science and gain relevant work experience in a growing field.
tech-collective.org
K-12 STEAM & P-TECHTech Collective is the industry representative to the Providence P-TECH computer science program. As the P-TECH industry representative, Tech Collective staff and members have the opportunity to guide the development of soft skills training and industry focused curriculum within the high school. Additionally, Tech Collective has a seat at the table with CCRI in developing the scope and sequence of college classes for P-TECH students as they work toward their associate degree.
Working in conjunction with the P-TECH liaison – provide a continual stream of mentors and speakers from Tech Collective members and partners, while offering a physical presence at events and administrative support.
Provide networking events, continuing education and be a strategic alliance partner to P-TECH graduates.
