Emphasis is placed on operating principles of hardware and software, networking models, operating systems, in- ternetworking components, industry standards and hands-on laboratory activities for developing practi- cal problem-solving skills. Students develop the ability to configure and troubleshoot basic PCs. Integrated into the program are courses that prepare the student to sit for both the Comp TIA A+ and the MCITP exams. NETWORKING TECHNICIAN (NWTC) This program introduces students to both software and hardware networking technology. Emphasis is placed upon understanding networking architecture and networking component characteristics. Practical hands-on labs will reinforce classroom lectures. Students will develop switch and router configuration skills and troubleshooting techniques. Students develop the ability to configure local area networks (LANs) and internetworks using routers and switches. Integrated into the program are courses that prepare the student to sit for Cisco CCNA exam. ADVANCED NETWORKING TECHNICIAN (NWAC) Students will learn about complex network configurations, diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques. Instruction is more advanced, which allows students to gain essential knowledge and skills used to design and implement converged, scalable and secured LANs and WANs. Integrated into this program are courses that prepare students to sit for the Cisco CCNP exams.
