Data Center At Department of Agriculture - Punjab

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is the first Open University in Asia. With its main campus at

Islamabad and huge network of regional centers spread across Pakistan, the University has to ensure high

availability of various offerings for its internal as well as external customers.

CMC has been awarded design and deployment of Tier 3 Data Center. The project was awarded to CMC

after strong competition from National and International players in this domain. The proposed solution is

based on;

Agriculture department planned to extend connectivity to its field offices for uploading all data collected

from filed offices and thereafter sharing as advisory to the farmers of Punjab.

Agriculture Department floated a tender inquiry for establishing a Tier 3 Data Center at their Lahore

premises. The scope of work involved understanding of the requirement and proposing a professionally

designed solution. All key contenders from all of Pakistan were in the run. The solution proposed by

CMC was considered as most appropriate both technically and financially and the project was awarded to

Data Center At KMC

Shared Storage and IT Equipment for Server Consolidation At ZTBL

CMC established an end-to-end datacenter at KMC. The end-to-end datacenter solution extends from designing to making the datacenter up and running. As it is an expertise of CMC, the datacenter is designed according to the requirements of the KMC and also keeping in mind of the future expansion plans. CMC firstly refurbish and renovated the existing datacenter by installing tampered glass replacing brick walls and conventional doors with automatic closing door which are accessible through Access Control System powered by RFID and keypad device. Along with the civil works CMC provide electric works including the installation that included structured cabling for power and data using state of the art cable trays. Following the international standards, CMC installed raised flooring, fire suppression system, and access control system. Environment monitoring solution is based on Emerson’s products for monitoring of temperature, humidity, surveillance, voltage, water & digital sensors. Emerson F-Series Server and communication Racks along with PDUs have been provided for an organized, secure, controlled environment in a single system for sensitive electronic equipment. Lastly, to combat the power failures, the solution uses Emerson UPS system to provide uninterrupted power to the datacenter.

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) is a premier financial institution geared towards the development of agriculture section through provision of financial services and knowledge based technical assistance since 1952. CMC was awarded the supply, installation and commissioning of Servers and Storage in IT Data Center at Islamabad and DR Site at Lahore. The overall scope of project is provisioning of storage to converged infrastructure servers and providing replication from primary site to DR site. The project is in progress. The proposed solution involves; Blade Server Chassis with up-to 8 Intel Based blades each SAN switches for primary and DR sites Storage systems with total storage capacity of 184 TB Fiber Channel connectivity at 16GB


Establishment of Tier III Data Center at PKLI Hospital

Establishment of Data Center at Islamabad High Court

IDAP-PKLI (LAHORE-PAKISTAN) Pakistan awarded a project to CMC to build its new state of the art (MODULAR RATING/Tier- III, ITDC’s having complete Paths and Components level Redundancy from day one as special add-on) for Modular POD based ITDC Facilities. The Primary ITDC Facility site based in Lahore was supposed to perform seamless uninterrupted ITDC Facilities services for their business continuity and be electronically connected through housed data server(s)/Networks. The system’s objective is to standardize its Data Centre in Islamabad with alignment of IT/Facility infrastructure. The project covers some more enhancements related to Modular cooling and power infrastructure requiring for this Data Centre is more concerned to the provision of XLPE electrical power cables supplies ( where applicable), ASTA certified switchboards and building services including civil Platform modifications Upgradation and complete fit out services to achieve a facility that must exceeds/meet/Attain Rating/Tier III 99.998% uptime®/TIA942A/B® design benchmark against “The Industry Standard Tier Classification System” developed (see below chart as specimen). However the design meets Tier III conformance due to Dual Utility Transformers assumption and Number of IT Racks for IT Availability upto Twelve IT Racks along with future growth upto 16 IT Rack on pay as you grow model as it holds all major facility components in design having complete Paths and Components level Redundancy from day one as special add-on).

Islamabad High Court awarded the project to CMC for design and deployment of data center at Islamabad. The datacenter has been designed to provide full redundancy at the levels of power, network, servers, storage and ensures high availability. The network is design to provide the best managed data center services for customers. IHC selected HP to be the major vendor for building the new datacenter. IHC intended to establish an ITDC for its various operations as per the requirements. CMC delivered and commissioned the project on a turn-key basis to include Data Centre IT & Network infrastructure, Servers, Storage, Power, Cooling, Monitoring & Management, Cabling, Networking, Lighting, Fire Detection & Suppression, Civil & Electric Work, Grounding & Earthling, Furniture & Fixtures, HVAC Systems, Backup Power System & Electrical Panels, Security, Surveillance & Access Control infrastructure as well as NMS and other required software & hardware for the successful completion of the project.


Establishing 500 IT LABs at KPK

Deployent of Server, Storage and Network at 33 Hospitals

Punjab Information Technology Board decided to deploy centralized on-line Hospital Information Management System in 33 hospitals at District and Tehsil level of Punjab. The objective was to automate the process at each hospital and to consolidate at a central point in Lahore. CMC was awarded the project for a) Perform the LAN cabling and provide passive equipment at all 33 sites. The Principal of LAN Solution is Digitus Germany. Active part of Network comprised of Routers, Switches, WLAN Controllers and Access Points for 33 Sites (THQ and DHQ Hospitals in Punjab), we completed the whole Network installation and configuration within 8 weeks of committed timelines. The Principal of Network Solution was Huawei. The second part of the project was to deliver, install and configure Servers, Storage and Racks at all 33 Sites (THQ and DHQ Hospitals in Punjab). The Principal of Servers, Storage and Racks was Huawei.

Government of KPK, Department of Education, awarded a project to CMC for supply, installation and support of IT equipment. The scope was to establish 500 IT labs in schools all over the province. The crucial part was to convert a bare room at each school into a lab and all 500 labs were to be made operational within 100 days from the order. CMC took this challenge and transported and deployed 7500 mini PCs and 500 PCs along with power cabling, networking, providing printers, UPS, furniture and interactive white boards. Innovative and out of box approach in many areas by the team led to this achievement and made this a success story for CMC.
