Start Comsol Multiphysics
In the model navigator, select the Incompressible Navier-Stokesapplication mode and click the
Multiphysics button

In the Multiphysicswindow click the Add button
Select the Convection and Conductionapplication mode then click the Addbutton again.
Select OK.

Hold down the shift key and click the Rectangle/Square button
Define the rectangle as shown below
At the top of the screen, select the Zoom Extentsbutton
The rectangle R1 appears

In the Multiphysicsmenu select Incompressible Navier-Stokes (chns)
In the Physics menu select Subdomain Settings
Under Subdomain selectionselect 1, enter the following Fluid properties and click OK.

In the Physics menu select BoundarySettings
Select each boundary and enter the corresponding boundary conditions
Select OK.

In the Multiphysicsmenu select Convection and Conduction (chcc)
In the Physics menu select Subdomain Settings
Under Subdomain selectionselect 1and enter the following Thermal properties.

On the Inittab enter the following initial value
Click OK.
In the Physics menu select BoundarySettings
Select each boundary and enter the corresponding boundary conditions

Click OK.
Under the Meshmenu select Free Mesh Parameters
Under the Global tab select Extra finefor the Predefined mesh sizesand select OK.

At the top of the screen click the Initialize Mesh button
Then click the Refine Mesh button twice
At the bottom of the screen you should see
Click the solve button
For a larger image, Go to the Optionsmenu and select Axes/Grid Settings

On the Axistab
Clear the tick for Axis equaland set y minand y maxas shown then Click OK.
Note the maximum velocity

In the Postprocessing menu, select Plot Parameters
Click the Surfacetab
Under the Predefined quantitiesdrop down menu, select Convection and Conduction (chcc)then select
Temperature
Click OK.

Click the Line/Extrusiontab.
Under the Predefined quantitiesdrop down menu, select Convection and Conduction (chcc)then select
Temperature
On the x-axis datadrop down menu select x.
Enter the Cross-section line dataas shown below.
Set the Line resolutionto 11.
Click Apply thenclick OK.

On Figure 1, click the Export Current Plotbutton and savethe file as shown below

Open Microsoft Excel 2007 and select the office icon then Open
Select Text Filesfrom the drop down menu.
Browse to the location that you saved the file and click on it then select Open.
