MMMMusic students in Concert Band and Jazz Band performat various local festivals and venues.

Extra-curricular opportunities include Honour Band, Pep Band,Jazz Combo and Liturgical Music Ministry.

MMM Honour Band awarded the Alberta Band AssociationsSuperior Standing and Alberta International Band FestivalsGold Award.

MMMmusic students participate in Big Band Jazz Year EndConcert in collaboration with other ECSD Jazz bands.

MMMMusic students have the opportunity to attend anInternational Band Festival.

Aesthetic judgments based on critical listening andthe analysis of music are developed while focusingon interpreting rhythm, melody and harmony as itappears in musical notation. A strong emphasis is

placed on the importance of music and itsimplications to career and leisure uses, as well asthe enjoyment of music as a source of personal

fulfillment.

PRE-REQUISITE: previous level Music for 20 and 30

Students in General Music explore theory andelements and structure of music while learning an

instrument or extending skill in an instrumentthey already play. Students also have the

opportunity to choose one or more of severalelective components including Popular Music,Composition, History of Western Music, WorldMusic, Careers in Music or Jazz Appreciation.


The choral music program seeks to develop musicalcompetency and strives for excellence within thelimits of the student’s capabilities. Concepts areessentially taught through student participationin the skill areas of singing, playing, listening,

reading (and writing) and creating.
