“I tell you that in the same

way there will be more

rejoicing in heaven over one sinner

who repents than over

ninety-nine righteous

persons who do not need to

repent.” Luke 15:7

NIV

Calvin’s Corner:

It is troubling that we live in a world very much like what the Apostle Paul described to young Timothy.

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lov-ers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power” (2 Tim. 3:1-5 ESV).

There are times when the blaspheming is so discouraging that we want to hide in our holy huddles and let the world pass us by. We can complain and protest that something should be done, but we must realize sin will never be solved with the pen of a politician but only through the blood of Christ. It is heart change that the world needs and that comes only through the saving grace of Jesus. Praise God that through His grace he saved us for his glory.

Now He has given us the task of sharing the message of salvation with the world. That seems a daunting task when you consider there are 7.5 billion people in the world and only 2.2% say they are Christian. Or the fact that there are 327 million people in the United States with less than half of them having a saving faith in Jesus Christ. We can get caught up in the numbers, but Jesus is concerned with just one. The scripture tells us, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent” (Luke 15:7 NIV).

We need to refocus ourselves to stop praying for the salvation of all the lost people in the world and start praying for our lost friend, John, Jill or whoever they are. This is the idea behind the SBC emphasis, “Who’s Your One?” Who is one person that you want to come to Christ? Can you imagine the impact on the world if every Chris-tian led one person to the saving knowledge of Jesus our Savior in the next year? There would be so much rejoicing in Heaven and likely would begin a worldwide Spiritual Awakening.

Start by identifying your one. Begin praying for them. Find ways to build a stronger relationship with them, then when the time is right under the leadership of the Holy Spirit share Christ with them. If you want more helps I encourage you to look online at http://whosyourone.com/

By the power of God we can make a difference in our world by being His witnesses. Who’s Your One!

Baptist Collegiate Ministry

Recently I enjoyed leading the weekly chapel service at the Royal Oak Christian Academy. I took my guitar and led the kids in some fun songs, then told them all about the Baptist College Ministry. One of our young Christian LU students went with me and shared his testimony. Last week I was invited back to teach an apologetics class to a very intelligent and curious 5th grade class.

For some time I have been talking to several faculty and staff at Lincoln about establishing a food bank on campus. (" ...36 percent of students on college campuses in the U.S. do not get enough to eat." Mara Rose Williams, The Kansas City Star") Upon learning of this, the principal and some teachers at Royal Oak Academy took it upon themselves to make it a school-wide project to collect food. Last week students from both schools, Lincoln staff and I transferred 2,500 food items to a newly designated food bank on campus! The college social work department has taken up this as a permanent work and will have two food distribution dates in April and May. Here is an excellent opportunity for each of our churches to become involved in meeting a very critical need. I will have further information upcoming.

As chaplain, I attended the football team's Spring Scrimmage. I spoke with several players who will help me to establish a players' Bible study this summer.

Thank you for your continued prayers! Your Missionary on Campus, Pastor Dave, BCM Director

SUMMER MISSIONS INTERNS

Concord Baptist Association has had some great Summer Missions Interns in the past. This year will be no exception. We have a double blessing.

Josiah Dumsday is returning for a second year. Madelyn Hansen, who has helped with Children’s Camp and been very active at Corticelli, will also serve.

Both Josiah and Madelyn will be with us for 10 weeks this summer. We encourage our churches to use them. Think beyond VBS. With their talents they could be a good Youth Led Revival team. Scheduling is on a first come first served basis so contact the association office to enlist their help. Let us know if you can use one or both of them. A few dates are already filled, so call or email soon to get your church’s event on their schedule (573-635-4832 or email [email protected]).
