As I sit behind my desk I’m thinking about the conversations John Miller and Roger Grummer had about these days. I wonder if Pastor Miller ever dreamed about what Concordia would be 50 years into the future. As Pastor Grummer celebrated his 25 th year of ministry at Concordia did he ever wonder about 2017? I am just hours away from my family vacation. I’m looking forward to spending time resting with my two (not so) little boys, and my beautiful wife on the left coast. But I’m also looking forward to returning and planning, and praying about what God is doing here in and through us. When I return, hopefully rested and with restored energy and enthusiasm, I’ll be thinking about the year ahead. 2017 I pray will be a year of Bold Moves for the Kingdom of God at Concordia, and (not so) coincidently the 50 th year of our ministry as a congregation of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. I’ve often said that one of my greatest joys in ministry is trying to discern what God is doing in this place. I believe as the Scriptures teach that God by the power of the Holy Spirit calls, gathers, and equips His Church, His way, for His glory and our good. What that means is that when God has a ministry in mind for a congregation, He provides for its ability to accomplish its mission with the needed amount of resources, be that gifts and talents, financial feasibility, ect. Knowing that to be true, what would you like to see happen for God’s glory and our good in our 50 th year? As I observe what God is doing here I am in awe about how much growth we’ve seen in our ministry. Our Sunday school rooms are, at times, bursting at the seams. Our adult Bible class is always well attended. Our fellowship events have out capacitated our fellowship hall. I know we are in need of more space if we hope to facilitate continued growth in our congregation. Is this one of the bold moves God is calling us toward in our 50 th year together? I wonder what the pastor’s name will be as this congregation celebrates her 100 th year. I wonder if he’s asking the same kinds of questions about me. What did I dream about at Concordia’s 50 th year? I guess the short answer would be something I pray they continue to pray every Sunday: “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done.” Yet for you and me I pray: “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done…in us.”

Dreaming Out Loud So far this summer has been a summer of dreaming, and talking, and visioning about what God is doing at Concordia. As I sit behind my desk I’m thinking about the conversations John Miller and Roger Grummer had about these days. I wonder if Pastor Miller ever dreamed about what Concordia would be 50 years into the future. As Pastor Grummer celebrated his 25th year of ministry at Concordia did he ever wonder about 2017? From the Board of Christian

Education... Our children enjoyed their day at “Barnyard Roundup” Vacation Bible School at Concordia. Our theme was “Jesus Gathers Us Together” with a focus on Psalm 23 with Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who brought their children and friends here for our special day of Christian fellowship together complete with Bible stories, crafts, games, music, and food. A big thank you to everyone who helped put our VBS together. Thanks to Dorothy Kennedy and Roni Scheibe who were the directors of VBS. Thank you to Katie Rosar and her Fellowship Board ladies who provided and served the snacks and lunch for everyone. Thanks to Pastor Mark for the opening and closing and to Tanya Debow for her wonderful music leadership. We enjoyed the children singing the two VBS songs on June 12th 11 pm worship service being led by Tanya. Katie Randermann and Ulana Ratley taught the two Bible story lessons for the VBS day. Crystal Schrader was in charge of the Utterly Cool Crafts, and Justin Randermann was in charge of the Bales of Fun Games. Thanks to them and to all the “Farmers” who led the children from station to station and all the other helpers that made this day possible. Mase Masalosalo created the most amazing barn set complete with a windmill, fence, and farm animals for the setting in our sanctuary. Thanks to the men who helped him by setting it up. A big thank you to everyone who helped make our “Barnyard Roundup” a successful VBS with the most children in attendance in five years. Remember we still have Sunday School this summer. The theme is “Pray, Praise & Give Thanks, Jesus Teaches Us to Pray.” Sunday School starts at 10 am and ends at 11 am everyone Sunday. Katie Randermann and Willie Silva teach the PreK Class and Crystal Schrader teaches the Elementary Class. Amie Jackowski teaches the Youth Class (Jr. High and High School). We are looking forward to seeing you in Sunday School and Church every Sunday.

From the Board of Property...

As our Concordia Family Continues to grow so has the facilities schedule here at Concordia. There seems to always be “Something Happening” here at Concordia. From church sponsored events, to meet-ings and rehearsals, to private events, there is a lot of exciting life within our walls. In order to keep everything running smoothly Board of Property would like to take a moment to share a few key points of the facility/properties use policy here at Concordia. All Non-church sponsored facility use

requests must be directed to the Direc-tor of the Board of Properties John Find-er. John’s email address is

[email protected] Any member requesting to use the facili-

ties for a non-church sponsored activity must complete, sign, and return a Facili-ties Use Form including a liability wavier within 5 days prior to the event date.

For effective scheduling a minimum of 10 days’ notice is required for non-church activity facility use requests.

All Church properties such as tables and chairs are only available for use at Concordia Facilities. Items may not be loaned out for use outside of Concordia Facilities. This policy is important to prevent excess wear and tear on items.

For all Church sponsored activities including events, meetings, rehearsals or any other activities please inform Secretary Heather Finder as early as possible regarding the dates and times of facilities use. Heather’s email address is [email protected]. This will allow for more accurate scheduling of all activities and minimize over booking. Thank you all for your help with these policies.
