Principal’s Report
Last Wednesday morning, the P&C catered breakfast for nearly one hundred drivers in the Variety Bash. Two iPads were kindly presented from the groups for use in our support class. We thank them for this donation, as well as the members of the P&C and community for their help with the breakfast.
Visiting Canberra
Students from our school have last week undertaken, an education tour of the national capital. Students have been given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards the costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
A selection of photographs from the excursion is available in this bulletin.
School Photos
This year, school photos will be taken next Tuesday, 2 September. Please return your photo envelopes as soon as possible.
Variety Concert Dress Rehearsal
A dress rehearsal for the Variety Concert will be held on Friday, 5 September. Students will need to have costumes available on that day.
The matinee performance of our annual Variety Concert will be held on Tuesday, 16 September, with two evening performances the following night.
Students and Social Media
The rules of social media organizations, Facebook and Snapchat, state that children under the age of 13 years cannot hold an account. In some instances, children under 13 years will be redirected to more appropriate and safer options.
Sites such as Facebook and Snapchat allow for cyber-bullying to occur within the home of the children, often without the carers being aware as social media can be accessed from mobile phones and tablets (iPads) when the children are supposed to be sleeping.
Cyber-bullying includes name-calling and making threats. Are you aware of what your child is writing or photos that they are sharing on social media? Are you setting a good example for the children who are accessing your social media threads?
Assembly
Parents and carers are invited to attend the formal assembly this Friday in the hall starting at 1pm. The students in 6R will be performing.

The Moran School Photographic Workshop Program
Last week, 30 students from years 4,5 and 6 particpated in the Moran School Photographic Workshop Program.
Students were each given a digital camera to use for the day and learnt about photography and ways to create a great
photo. At the end of the day students each printed 5 photos to keep. Some of these photos are on display in the office
building. The workshop encouraged students to be imaginative and creative as they learnt valuable skills and
confidence. Student’s photos have now been entered into the K-6 Moran Contemporary Photographic Competition.
