Good Catch RecipientsThis program is meant to capture when an

employee recognizes an event that could have been harmful to a patient but an action was taken

to prevent something unsafe from happening.

Patrick Ford, Medical TechnologistGood Catch: During morning work, Patrick noticed that results on Patient A’s manual differential did not match the automated results. Further investigation showed that Patient B’s manual differential results were entered as Patient A’s. Patrick then called the nurse to let her know that the results were being corrected.

Emalee Decker, RN Good Catch: While checking the patient in the Holding Area, Emalee noticed that this patient’s OR consent had a different patient name written in on the consent and the wrong sticker on the bottom of the consent. She notified the surgeon and physician assistant who came to the OR and filled out a new consent with the correct information on it. The consent with the wrong information on it was removed from the patient’s chart.

Ruthann Palm, Mammography Technologist Good Catch: A patient presented with a mammogram order. An incorrect study was ordered at registration. The order was for a 3D mammogram but a 2D mammogram was entered. Ruthann caught and corrected the order before the mammogram was performed.

TEAM Recognition: Infusion Center “The staff are AMAZING. They are always willing to fit me in or work with my schedule to make sure I get what I need. They are cheerful, welcoming, and make patients feel at home. They have never turned me away regardless of how busy their day is and for that I am most appreciative. They are always talkative and we share a few laughs along the way. Their entire team works well together and they are truly a hidden gem in the organization. Many thanks to them for all they do to care for our patients!” -- A Patient

2020 Donate Life Rose Parade

Conemaugh Chief Executive Officers joined the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) for a rose vial signing ceremony. The rose vials will be placed on the Donate Life Rose Parade® float featured at the 2020 Tournament of Roses® Parade. Vials were signed by (photo L-R): Tim Harclerode, Conemaugh Miners and Conemaugh Nason Medical Centers, Heather Smith, Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center, William Caldwell, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Celebrating its 18th year of participating in the parade, the Donate Life Rose Parade float is the centerpiece of a national effort of more than 50 organizations to reach a broad audience with the simple, life-giving message that donation saves and heals lives. This year’s float entry, Light in the Darkness, reflects the parade’s theme of The Power of Hope, and highlights unity, light and love, as celebrated during Southeast Asia’s Diwali, or the Festival of Lights. A single organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people and improve the lives of as many as 75 more.

Taking a Leadership Role in Our Communities

130 Acts of Kindness UPDATE

Conemaugh Memorial recognizes that positive steps towards a healthy lifestyle and a healthy community begin at a young age. In addition to a monetary donation, each school received one-year of free access to online Wellness Rewards programs offered by Conemaugh, to be used for students and / or staff.
