Did you listen to As It Happens on
the radio last night when they were
discussing the Wal-Mart worker
walkouts for Black Friday? Or
maybe you watched the latest
episode of The Big Decision and
you know it would be a beneficial
example to show in class.
Whether it’s current CBC television
programming or an archived CBC
news item you want to revisit, CBC
Player is a great one-stop shop for
programs created by and shown on
the CBC. You will find content from
Television, Radio, News, Sports
and Digital Archives. Each of these
sources are searchable by either
title or subject, and the entire site is
searchable by keyword(s).
Conestoga has just
purchased licensing to
share any content you find
on the site within the
classroom, so visit it today
and start sharing!

© Copyright Update
The Copyright Modernization Act (CMA) came into force on November 7, 2012.
Education is now one of the allowable purposes for Fair Dealing, which means that we
have a lot more freedom in what can be copied for educational purposes. While we must
follow the limits spelled out in the ACCC Fair Dealing Policy or the CMA, such as one
chapter from a book or a single article from a periodical, we can now:
scan an item to create a PDF, and then post it on an ANGEL course page
use publicly available material (PAM) from the Internet
create mash-ups (using copyright-protected works to create new works)
show films in the classroom without any additional permissions or reporting
requirements
For more detailed information, please visit the Copyright Guides on the LRC page.
Please note: Safari Books Online has a maximum of 5 simultaneous users. Try back later if you’re unable to access this resource.
