We are pleased to announce that the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) will conduct the 21th Conference and Exhibition of Occupational Safety and Health (COSH 2018) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya, Malaysia on 24th – 25th September 2018.

COSH 2018 serves as the enhanced platform for OSH professionals in Malaysia to share and update their OSH knowledge and skills to meet the dynamic changes in the Malaysian working environment.

Discussing on current challenges and concerns related to the safety and health is one of the primary objectives of this conference.

As an organisation that focuses on safety and health of employees, NIOSH has come a long way to realise its objective of becoming the centre of excellence for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in Malaysia.

COSH 2018 will bring together OSH practitioners from various disciplines to share their knowledge, expertise, skills and ideas to help create accident- free workplace.

With the tsunami of data available to businesses these days, companies are turning to analytics solutions to extract meaning from the huge volumes of data to help improve decision making. The integration of data and predictive analytics systems capable of deciphering streams of information regarding equipment deficiencies long before they turn into failures, could promise a decline in workplace injuries and illnesses.

According to a World Economic Forum (WEF) report released at Davos last year, the world has entered the Fourth Industrial Revolution which is characterized by the growing significance of digital technology as a driving force for economic growth. This rapid change and busy environment in business and organizations also means workers will constantly be interacting and processing multiple streams of information which improves their ability to learn.

The preparation of this change requires an approach that promotes a culture of life-long learning which benefits the next generation of the global workforce. This year’s conference will address these challenges as well as improving the safety and health of workers by early detection of exposures to risk, development of preventive measures and implementation of OSH systems and policies in the new digital era.

Putrajaya is a city in Malaysia, south of Kuala Lumpur. It’s known for its late-20th-century architecture including the Putra Mosque, made from rose-colored granite with a pink dome. Nearby is the immense, green-domed Perdana Putra, which contains the prime minister’s office complex. The 3-tiered Putra Bridge is inspired by Iranian architecture, with 4 minaret-type piers overlooking the man-made Putrajaya Lake. Putrajaya is Malaysia’s third and latest Federal Territory. Built on an expansive marshland and former oil palm estate in Selangor, the city spans an area of almost 5,000 hectares and lies 25 km from Kuala Lumpur. Putrajaya takes over the administrative functions of the capital city Kuala Lumpur and is part of the Multimedia Super Corridor project of the Malaysian government. The streets are elegantly designed with a European feel, along with well-paved roads while the government buildings are a blend of modern architecture with Islamic arts. Commercial, authoritative and residential areas have been divided into precincts that blend into each other cohesively. A waterway cuts through the city, flowing into a large lake. The concrete landscape is balanced with lots of parks, greenery and wetlands but because the land is relatively flat, it does not look lush. There are several places that visitors can explore. Those coming from KLIA airport will only take minutes to reach Putrajaya. On the other hand, there are plenty of bus and railway services to ferry you to Putrajaya from Kuala Lumpur.
