Our Closet Collection

What is needed? Please drop off gently used or new Men’s Clothing and Accessories -- professional or casual wear, shoes, ties, wallets, etc. Our Closet - Powered by JFCS is a volunteer-driven organization that provides clothing to vulnerable Philadelphians and their families free
of charge by operating “pop-up shops” throughout the city. They operate with the highest regard for the respect of each client in mind; each “pop up shop” is a welcoming and dignified space.

Help-a-Senior
any 2-hour shift after 12 noon Off-site
Help with small essential tasks in the homes of seniors living in the Northeast, i.e. change light bulbs and smoke detector batteries, yard work, replace heat/air conditioner filters. No experience is necessary. Supplies and instructions will be provided. This project is ideal for individual adults, couples, or families with children. Elementary or middle school children must be accompanied by a parent. High school students may participate with adult chaperones. Seniors are clients of Jewish Federation’s Northeast NORC. Pre-registration required.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Look for the lemonade stand and quench your thirst while attending the Chanukah Bazaar. Every cup of lemonade helps support pediatric cancer research.

Our 4th, 5th and 6th graders will travel from Beth Or to JRA warehouse for packing and delivering. One bus will return to Beth Or at 10:45 am for those unable to participate in delivering. All other buses will return at 1 pm. Chaperones needed.
RSVP to your student’s teacher or contact Aaron Nielsenshultz to confirm their participation and your availability to chaperone, [email protected]. Bus transportation provided.
Adults without school-aged children will participate too, and will carpool or meet at the warehouse at 10 am for packing. For those available to deliver, they will begin their routes at 11:30 am.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Toiletry Gift Bags

What is needed? NEW travel-sized toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, mouthwash and individually wrapped toothbrushes). Also, join other volunteers as we create individual bags for families staying over with their children at CHOP.

Mitzvah Circle Collection
9 am - 1 pm On-site
What is needed? NEW toiletries, diapers, school supplies, socks and underwear, car seats, warm hats and gloves, un-expired packaged food and baby accessories. We are also collecting cleaned, gently used and new clothing, coats, shoes and purses, housewares, linens, towels, toys with all pieces, and small kitchen/personal appliances (microwave, toaster oven, fan). Separately bagged clothing (no hangers) labeled with the gender, size and season are greatly appreciated. Mitzvah Circle provides high quality clothing and other essentials to people in the most desperate situations.

Mitzvah Circle Sorting
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm Off-site
Meet at Beth Or at 11:30 am and caravan to Mitzvah Circle (1561 Gehman Road, Harleysville) or meet at the location at 12:30 pm. Before departing, we will pack our cars with items collected the prior week plus additional drop offs that morning. This is a wonderful inter-generational project for parents and grandparents with children and grandchildren, ages 4 and older. Children will decorate bags and fill with snacks for people in need. Teens and adults will help with warehouse tasks such as sorting clothes by sizes, packing boxes for families, and unloading deliveries. Limited to 45 volunteers. Pre-registration required.

Fleece-Tie-Blankets

Help make fleece-tie ‘no-sew’ blankets that will be donated to Fox Chase Cancer Center to help keep patients warm while they receive treatment. “Measure, Cut and Tie” are the easy steps in this fun
teen project! We will also have some small pieces of fleece for children to tie. Pre-registration required.

Help serve a special holiday breakfast and distribute gifts and stockings to approximately 40 children, ages 6-14, who live at Silver Springs because of past challenges such as abuse, neglect and trauma.
