DOORTODOOR SCAMMING Based on neighborhoods and home values, scammerscan target people they believe have money. Residents shouldbe cautious anytime a stranger comes knocking unsolicited,especially if they are trying to sell you goods or services.

For Law Enforcement Appreciation Week,students from TJ raised money to pay for twomemorial flags that were presented in honor ofDPD officers killed in the line of duty. The flags
were flown at the state capitol.
GOOD NEIGHBOR OF THE MONTH Through his work with the Leetsdale Cop Shop, our veryown Community Resource Officer, Mike Borquez, learned oneof their volunteers needed her house painted. Officer Borquezrealized that hiring a painter would be difficult and expensive.So, he rallied his coworkers to purchase paint and donate theirday off to paint her home. Thank you Officer Borquez and theother DPD volunteers!

FORMER TJ ALUMNUS RETURNS TO COACH FOOTBALL Join us in welcoming TJ alumnusand former NFL safety, Derrick Martin, asTJ’s next football coach. A 2003 graduate,Martin was an allstar athlete in football,basketball and track. He played football atthe University of Wyoming and eightseasons in the NFL. Martin is a twotimeSuper Bowl champion, winning in 2011with Green Bay, and 2012 with the NewYork Giants. Martin recently retired fromthe NFL and returned to the University ofWyoming where he finished his degree.

NEW TJ PRINCIPAL ANNOUNCED Assistant PrincipalMichael Christoff has beennamed as TJ’s new principal.Mr. Christoff brings bothteaching and leadershipexperience, including being anintegral part of TJ’s successover the last three years. Mr.Christoff will replace PrincipalSuzanne MorrisSherer whohas been a transformationalleader. Ms. MorrisSherer willremain at TJ through the fall to transition, and then willcontinue to work with Mr. Christoff and other DPS schoolleaders. Welcome Mr. Christoff and good luck. Go Spartans!

BE SMART ABOUT YOUR OUTDOOR WATERING Although Denver had a wet spring, water efficiency isstill critical in our dry climate. Denver Water’s summerwatering rules are in effect from May 1Oct. 1.
Water during cooler times of the day — lawn wateringis not allowed between 10 am 6 p.m.Water no more than three days per week.Do not allow water to pool in gutters, streets andalleys.Do not waste water by letting it spray on concrete andasphalt.Repair leaking sprinkler systems within 10 days.Do not irrigate while it is raining or during high winds.Use a hose nozzle with a shutoff valve when washingyour car.
