From The EditorDespite the lack of numbers there was some lively discussion at the AGM last month. There were some interesting ideas mooted, many of which Grant (as the new secretary) has written up for this month’s Club news.

Club NEws Club Night Improvements
Starting at the May club night we are going to do some differ-ent things to get more people attending, as it’s been a bit quiet recently.
So, firstly, the May club night has a theme!!
“Bring out your dead from the Shelf of Doom….”
Find your oldest ‘work in progress’ from your Shelf of Doom (where WIP’s go awaiting their turn to get progressed/fixed/finished…). Will be interesting to see your oldest WIP’s, so bring them along on club night. You don’t need to stand up and talk about them, but there is a special prize on offer – at the President’s discretion….
The June meeting will be a buy/sell/swap night, so you can bring along kits you don’t want anymore. Table space will be provided, just put a note on what is yours with your prices & who to contact.
Club Night Raffle
Every club night for the rest of the year will have a raffle prize that you can enter just by attending. Bring along a Work in Progress kit, a completed kit, or bring a non-member to earn more tickets to the raffle (T’s&C’s apply). The raffle prizes will be in the $50 - $80 mark, so it’s gonna be worth turning up to be in to win!!
Details on how this works will be provided at the May club night, so come along & bring some models to put on the table & you will be in with a chance to win a decent kit in the raffle.
Build the Same Kit
BSK voting is this May club night - another reason to come along! Rules are as follows :
Need 3 votes for a successful subject & if two kits in the same category get across that line then a vote off will be held (Was a minimum of 4 votes but we have reduced this to 3 to get more options available & kits on the table…)
Categories are :1/48 Aircraft 1/72 Aircraft 1/24 Vehicle 1/35 Armour
BONUS category !!!
The following kits have been suggested :
1/48 Aircraft : Eduard Tempest (any boxing) & Tamiya Spitfire (any boxing)
1/72 Aircraft : Airfix Typhoon & Tamiya Messerschmitt Bf109G5
1/35 Armour : Meng Panther (any boxing), Tamiya Marder 3, Tamiya M10 & Achillies, Tamiya Easy 8 Sherman, Border Models Panzer 4, Rye Field Models Tiger 1
1/24 Vehicles : Tamiya Ford GT & Revell Ford GT
Figures : Warhammer figure (we will chose a box & get one figure out of a box…)
BONUS category : come along for the details on the BONUS CATEGORY – you will get your kit on the night !!! (… and no it won’t be a Kansan or a Fokker D.21…)
Discussion on Club Night – Expo or..?
Following the discussion at the AGM about the Expo, we want to discuss whether we run another Expo or do something else. There are a few options, and we want to understand what is the best way to progress this & have a discussion about it. Then we can put together a proposal on the agreed way forward.
Subscriptions are due
With all these activities going on, we need to make sure that your membership is paid up, so please get your membership paid & your details provided to the Treasurer.

The 10th Classic Fighters airshow was held at Omaka airfield near Blenheim over Easter weekend. The theme this year was Women in Aviation and included recreations of many events in aviation history involving women. Highlights of the show for me were the RAAF F/A-18 Hornet, Avro Anson and the Yak-52 display team and in restoration row in the Marlborough Aero club hangar the ex-RNZAF Hudson NZ2049. This aircraft has genuine service in the Pacific during WWII. Below are some of my photos from the airshow. Sorry that they are all ground shots, but I have neither the camera nor the talent for useful aerial photography. However, there are some excellent photos on the Wings Over New Zealand website, from page 14 onwards; link here http://rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/26928/yealands-classic-fighters-2019?page=14
