  • CONTAGIOUS JOY - # 5 BIBLE STUDY

Emotions were never meant to be bottled up inside. When we try to contain them, the

pressure builds. Usually, we think of this mounting accumulation of strong feelings in

negative ways. Too often, suppressed anger builds until it boils over in rash deeds and

scathing words. But have you ever considered that our other good emotions tend to spill

over into our lives as well? Take joy, for example. When our hearts are filled with joy to the

point of overflowing, it bubbles over. And how do we express abundant joy? According to

scripture we sing for joy of heart. (Copied word for word from our authors study guide)

Trinkets to Treasure: We are told that if we won’t give praise to the Lord, then the rocks will

take over and do it for us! Our trinket this week is a stone. Put it somewhere where it can

remind you to lift your voice in joyful song!. (Copied from study guide)

  • CONTAGIOUS JOY - #5 STUDY QUESTIONS

    1.In Jeremiah 25:10, the prophet

says that every sound of joy will be

    banished from the land. What

    examples of these joyful sounds

    does Jeremiah list?

  • 1. In Jeremiah 25:10, the prophet says that every sound of joy will be banished from the land. What examples of

these joyful sounds does Jeremiah list? I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride

and bridegroom, (festivities-marriage) the sound of millstones (work being done) and the light of the lamp. (BFC) I

don’t know about you, but there are just sometimes when I read, I get stuck on a verse(s) and just don’t

understand it. I have to leave it alone for a while and just go back and keep reading it over and over and look in

commentaries and even google what it means until I get it. Usually its very simple and I just get brain fog,

    hahahha. .

    a) The word came to Jeremiah from God.

    b) Through Jeremiah – God was talking to the people of Judah (rebellious and sinful and would not listen to Gods

warnings, over and over and over – they would not repent!)

    c) King of Judah was Josiah

    d) King of Babylon was Nebuchadnezzar-Gods servant

    e) God warns of total destruction to Judah-all joy, blessings, and the land they lived in, is going to be destroyed-

    become a desolate wasteland.

    f) Sin has a price to pay. (If we are saved) and we harden our hearts, and continue in willful sin, we build a wall

between us and God and we shut out the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, where we no longer HEAR HIM. Our

joy goes out the window and so does Gods blessings and favor. We can't expect blessings over rebellion and sin.

    g) If we are lost, and continue in sin until death, the price for our rejection of Jesus’ love and grace, is eternal death.

    h) God gives all of a free will, He won’t force His love and will on any of us. You choose this day whom you will serve;

    God=Live – Satan=Death.

2.We are not alone in our joy and

rejoicing. What else does Isaiah 55:12

say will break forth into song in the joy

    of worship?

  • We are not alone in our joy and rejoicing. What else does Isaiah 55:12

say will break forth into song in the joy of worship? You will go out in

joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into

song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.(BFC)

Summarized verses 1-12: It’s an invitation to the Lord’s salvation. No

payment plans, salvation is free, if your thirsty, come to the living

waters – JESUS- Jesus paid it all! Turn to God for He will forgive you of

all your sins. God will give us His “unfailing love”. Don’t get caught up

    in religion and works. Eternal salvation. Share the gospel with others;

produce fruit and sow Gods Word into others.= JOY-PEACE-SONG-

    CLAPPING HANDS.

    what else rejoices before the

    Lord?

  • In 1 Chronicles 16:31-33, What else rejoices before

the Lord? Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be

glad; let them say among the nations,

“The LORD reigns!”32 Let the sea resound, and all

that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything

in them! Let the trees of the forest sing, let them

sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to

    judge the earth.

stars sang for joy. Where I live out in the country,

you can go out at night and gaze into the sky and

remember this verse next time I look up into the

sky and see all of them singing.

Psalm 43:4? (bfc)Then I will go to the altar of God, to God,

my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O

and worship teams to open the gates of heaven to allow

the Holy Spirit to come in and fill the house with His

presence; this prepares our hearts to hear and receive the

    word from our pastors. Thankful.

Such is the

voice of the Gospel to all sensible sinners; whose eyes are opened to see their

lost estate; whose ears are opened to hear the joyful sound: whose hearts are

opened to attend to the things spoken in it; who are humble and contrite,

wounded and broken in spirit, and have a spiritual understanding of things given

them: to these the Gospel preached is glad tidings of great joy; they hear of the

love of God in him, and of the love of him to them; it is food to their souls; and

when found, under the hearing of it, it is the joy and rejoicing of their hearts; -

    - Moreover, by the "bridegroom" may be meant Christ, who has espoused his

people to himself, and is their husband, And by the "bride" may be meant the

church, who is the bride, the Lamb's wife, being married to him.
