Welcome to this weeks edition of the SignPost
Well what a terrific dinner meeting - Past Presidents Night commenting 110 years of Rotary
International, there were 30 Past Presidents attending, and some 40 current members and
partners. What a roll up. Thank you to Committee Members Greg Noonan, Ian Ellis and
Matthew Scott for their contributions, also thank you to speakers Ken, Matthew and Laurie for
their presentations.
Three observations struck as important to share in this Bulletin.
- The amount of history in the room both present and past member and memorabilia was
incredible.
- The evening provided an opportunity for present and past members to catch up with each
other. The night was targeted as a social occasion.
- The meeting provided the opportunity for the Club to develop and present their skills on how
to organise and conduct a major event and celebrate success.
Also the cake and the entertainment was pretty good too. Thank you members and partners for
participating in the dinner meeting - 74 people attended and thank you to Julie Mason DG
Elect for attending, and Anne for organising the raffle. With raffle and fine monies the Club
will be making a $500 donation to the Junortoun Fire Brigade, towards the purchase of a fire
truck, as part of CFA week. We had the mix of Rotary 110th Birthday, Past Presidents Night
and Targeted Fund Raising.
Thank you to Sue for her efforts at the Sign Post, we are just about there, with respect to
transition from Matthew to Sue. Can members who want input in the SignPost get their
prepared information to Sue no later than the Saturday after the meeting. Also if there are
members not getting the signpost can you advise both Sue and Matthew and this will be
corrected.
This meeting our youth Exchange Students Tarleya and Gute will be making a presentation to
the Club which, will be very interesting.. Make them most welcome.
Also it’s Cricket Season, with the Rotary Cricket Week about to commence in the near future.
Thank you to those members who are supporting the conduct of the week through the various
events as well as the Multicultural evening the next day.
See you next Thursday

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the
ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and,
in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST.
The development of acquaintance as an
opportunity for service;
SECOND.
High ethical standards in business and
professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all
useful occupations; and the dignifying of each
Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve
society;
THIRD.
The application of the ideal of service in each
Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH.
The advancement of international understanding,
goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of
business and professional
persons united in the ideal of service.
THE FOUR WAY TEST
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER
FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
