Drawing Crash Course!Instructor: Brenda StevensArtists have a special way of visualizing light, patterns and shapes in art, as well as their relationship to one another. This four-hour workshop, for beginners, promises to sharpen your eye for observation while improving your eye-to-hand coordination. Beginning WatercolorInstructor: Brenda StevensThis course will provide you with an understanding of basic color theory. Make a color wheel and learn how to mix an infinite palette of colors from the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue. Use black paint to make Ansel Adams’ ten point value

Watercolor Crash CourseInstructor: Brenda StevensThis one-day workshop for beginners requires no drawing or painting skills. You will get right to work, mixing colors and learning a few of the basic painting techniques, on an original drawing created just for this class. Basic Digital PhotographyInstructor: Bill AdamsIn this two-part class, you’ll learn the most essential features of your digital camera and how to correct the most common beginner mistakes. Topics include composition, creative auto-focus, exposure modes and more. Apply the photography skills and techniques you learned in the classroom in an off-site photo shoot. When you’re done, you’ll be able to view your new images on an HDTV and receive constructive suggestions from your instructor. Students may use DSLR or compact cameras. In this relaxed Saturday class, you will learn to create a soft, warm environment and use natural window light to produce portraits that

capture that mood. Topics covered include flattering feminine poses, backdrops, reflectors and post-processing. Spend the morning and early afternoon making portraits, then share your work with the class and benefit from your instructor’s input and gentle critique. Introduction to Sports PhotographyInstructor: Robin TrimarchiOur award-winning instructor takes a break from photographing SEC sports to lead this hands-on class. Spend a Monday evening in the classroom, where she will show her work and discuss equipment and strategies for capturing the best action shots. On Saturday, practice your new skills with the instuctor at a local youth sports venue. Constructive CritiquesInstructor: Richard DennardThere comes a point in your photographic development when all of your images seem pretty good, but you need the guidance of a more experienced photographer to take your work to the next level. The Art of Photography: An OverviewInstructor: Kenny GrayIf you want to go beyond casual picture taking and seriously pursue the art of photography, this class is for you. The instructor’s photographs have been widely exhibited and are included in museum collections. In this four week class, participate in discussions and complete assignments in four important areas: light, subject, perspective and presentation. Each participant will receive a museum quality pigment ink enlargement of their best image, printed by the instructor. Prerequisite: Photography Fundamentals I and II or comparable experience. Macro Photography: The Close-UpInstructor: Julie Dice WynnThis Saturday class features a live, hands-on macro photo shoot with the instructor, after which your work will be reviewed in the classroom. Creative Flash Photography: Classroom and Hands-OnInstructor: John HelmsDigital flash photography can be frustrating for even experienced photographers. Learn strategies for getting more consistent exposures and techniques for using your flash on- and off-camera as a main, fill and bounce light source. Class will break one hour for lunch on Saturday. Creative Compositions: Classroom and Hands-OnInstructor: Richard DennardWhen you have learned your equipment and key techniques, you still need the experience necessary to recognize and create good photos. Our master photographer will show lots of photos to illustrate various strategies for good compositions and then discuss reasons to break the rules. After a week of using what you learn, you will return to the classroom to have your photos shared with the class and critiqued by the instructor. Photography Studio RentalBefore you invest in a home studio, consider taking advantage of the prestige and history of the downtown Rankin Arts Photography Center. Our newly updated 800 square-foot space features 11-foot ceilings, a closet filled with accessories, props and clothing, a private dressing room, sink and a radio/CD player. Our studio is fully equipped with White Lighting studio flash units and accessories (soft boxes, barn doors, booms, stands, etc.), a Quantum Radio Slave Receiver and Transmitter, a flash meter and a variety of backdrops. Project Management | PROFESSIONAL COURSES

Project Management CertificateOur Project Management Certificate is led by Project Management professionals with decades of combined experience, and works hand-in-hand with the local Project Management Institute (PMI) chapter to expose students to the body of knowledge required to prepare for the credentialing exam. In order to earn a certificate in Project Management, four core courses and two elective classes (72 hours) must be completed. Upon completion of the courses, students will be prepared to pursue the Project Management credentials from the Project Management Institute (PMI). These courses can also be used to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs) to fulfill Continuing Certification Requirements. IMPORTANT INFORMATIONWHEN TO REGISTER Register EARLY! Registration is now available and should be completed early to guarantee a space in the class. Late registration will be accepted if the class is not full.

FEES Course fees are stated at the end of each course description and payment is due at the time of registration. Laws exempting senior citizens from college tuition costs do not apply to these self-support-ed courses. No cash is available after 4:30 p.m. If you register after 4:30 p.m., please have the exact amount or pay by check, credit card, or company billing (purchase order number and contact person required). Make checks payable to Columbus State University.

PAYMENT PLAN POLICY Continuing Education offers payment plans for select Professional Development courses. Eligible courses are taught in-house with a tuition fee of $300 or more. Online courses or courses offered via third-party educational partners do not qual-ify for this payment plan option. However, some of these programs may be eligible for financial assistance offered through the educational partner.

The Continuing Education payment plan offers the option of paying tuition in three installments. 50% of the tuition is due at the time of registration. The remaining 50% is divided into two equal installments: the first is due on or before the first day of class; the last installment is due by the mid-point of the class. In order to utilize the Continuing Education payment plan option, you must register for the desired course(s) in person and complete a Payment Plan Agreement. For more information or to inquire about the eligibility of specific classes, please call 706.507.8073.

REFUND POLICY As Continuing Education (CE) is a self-supporting branch of Columbus State University, we rely on student registration fees to cover all costs. If you must withdraw from a class, please notify us by 5:00 PM at least three business days before the course begins. A full refund minus a $15 processing fee will be issued. You

may also choose to accept a CE credit voucher for the full course amount, in lieu of a refund, and processing fee will be waived. If you withdraw after the 3-day period, but before the class begins, you will receive a 50% refund or credit voucher. No refunds can be given after a class begins.

In the event of class cancellation or changes of times and dates, we will attempt to notify you at least two business days before the course begins. If you cannot attend the course due to these changes, you will receive a CE cred-it voucher, which is valid for 18 months from the date of issue.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY Columbus State University will not issue refunds for classes which have been postponed due to inclement weather or oth-er circumstances beyond our control. We will make every effort to reschedule such classes. In the event of inclement weather, tune into your local radio or television station for information about closings.

PERMANENT RECORDS The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized measurement of noncredit course work. One CEU (1.0) may be award-ed for each ten hours of participation in an approved program. We keep a permanent record of participation in selected programs, issue a certificate to acknowledge successful completion of the program, and provide official transcripts to you or your employer. All requests for transcripts must be in writing.

FUNDING OPTIONS Many of our certificate courses are approved for VA education benefits by the De-partment of Veterans Affairs.
