DEMOLITION
Remove exhaust fan ducting to make room for new condenser water pump. After new pump is installed, duct will be rerouted
and reinstalled.
Remove condenser water pump and condenser supply and return water piping inside mechanical room. All condenser water
piping in room is to be removed from the chiller up to the flange before pipe penetrates roof. The CWS pipe through roof to
remain from flanges on each side of roof. CWR pipe through roof to be removed through aluminum jacket sleeve and the
sleeve capped.
Existing Cooling Tower CT-2 will be moved and reoriented to make room for new Cooling Tower CT-1. Remove condenser
water supply and return water piping indicated. Provide pipe support for existing condenser water supply and return piping to
remain before demolition. Remove pipe insulation and heat trace. Remove tower drain piping and overflow piping from
tower to permanent drain pipe in ground. Set CT-2 down to allow demolition of existing tower supports. Cooling tower shall
not be set directly on gravel, provide substantial blocking at all support points. Remove existing cooling tower concrete
block support and footings. After demolition is complete, begin work immediately to reinstall tower.
Remove existing make up water piping back to isolation valve in mechanical room.
Existing tower water treatment equipment to be reused. Remove stand housing the equipment during demolition. The best
location to reinstall the stand is to be determined after new piping is installed. Blow down solenoid valve to be reused.
Remove all wiring including conduit along floor after review. The obsolete and unused tower treatment equipment that is
mounted on the wall is to be removed.
Existing tower drain piping and vent are to be reused. Remove the vent during construction and replace after work is
complete. Reroute and support vent as necessary.
Alternate M-1: The 3 building chilled water zone pumps (P-9, 10 & 11) are to be removed along with chiller pump (P-13). A
new chiller pump (P-13) will be installed at the same location. The building pump take off with 6” piping to existing pump
P-9 is to be reused for one new building pump (P-9). Cap other take offs. The supply of the new building pump (P-9) will be
routed and tied into the three zone supply pipes. Refer to the Detail 3/M-500 - Alternate M-1 Chilled Water Pump
Replacement Schematic.
Remove existing Cooling Tower CT-1 and condenser supply and return water piping on roof. All condenser piping aboveroof is to be removed from the cooling tower down to the flange before pipe penetrates roof. The CWS pipe throughroof to remain from flanges on each side of roof. CWR pipe through roof to be removed through aluminum jacket sleeveand the sleeve capped.
Existing steel support frame to remain.
Remove make-up water piping from cooling tower down through roof. Cap pipe sleeve after pipe removal.
Remove electrical conduit and conductors from cooling tower back to starter in mechanical room. Conduit through roofcan remain. Cap conduit 1' above roof. Refer to electrical drawings.

GENERAL NOTES:
1. Remove indicated equipment, piping, valves, fittings, wiring, conduit and other associated electrical devices. The Owner shall
be consulted to determine which removed items are to be turned over. All material and equipment which is not to be turned
over to the Owner shall be removed from the job site and disposed of off site by legal means. Contractor shall obtain all
necessary permits to facilitate removal and disposal. Patch and repair surfaces damaged during demolition to match existing.

1. AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SYSTEM AND BEFORE START-UP, THE PUMP SHALL BE LUBRICATED IN
STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS.
2. A METAL INSTRUCTION PLATE SHALL BE ATTACHED TO THE PUMP IN A LOCATION WHERE IT IS
CLEARLY VISIBLE. THESE INSTRUCTIONS SHALL INDICATE THE RECOMMENDED LUBRICANT, THE
POINTS OF, AND FREQUENCY OF LUBRICATION.
PUMP ALIGNMENT

KEYED NOTES - MECHANICAL:
CONSTRUCTION
Provide new concrete block support stands for cooling towers (CT-1 & CT-2). Refer to Detail 2/M-103.
Set cooling tower on support stands. Provide condenser water supply and return piping, drain and overflow piping, and
make-up water piping to connect to cooling tower. Provide thermometer well for temperature sensor within 4" of basin
connection. Refer to Detail 1/M-500.
Provide 3" PVC drain piping and connect to each cooling tower. Route drain pipe from CT-1 from tower to building wall and
over then out to hit the existing drain. Maintain even slope. Combine with drain pipe from CT-2.
Make-up water piping shall be routed to both cooling towers. Provide 1" take-off and ball valve for New CT-1 and provide 1"
ball valve on CT-2 make-up water line in Mechanical Room 114. Route new 1" copper piping to each cooling tower.
Support 6" condenser water piping from vertical supports resting on and anchored to concrete base.
Provide new condenser water pump P-12 and diverting valve just inside wall. Refer to Detail 2/M-102. Adjust location to
allow a minimum of 4" of wall between short door and new pipe. Provide 6" condenser water piping to chiller and cooling
tower. Install 3/4" taps and valves for water treatment and thermometer wells for sensors. Sensors will be installed in
separate project. Reinstall chiller flow switch.
Rotate 90° duct radius and extend duct down to 12" above floor at location shown. Install sheet metal down to floor on sides
facing the door and chiller.
Using existing heat trace circuit, wire all piping heat trace through new outdoor thermostat.
Alternate M-1: Replace existing chiller pump (P-13). Provide new constant speed pump chiller pump (P-13). Replace three
existing chilled water pumps (P-9, P-10 and P-11). Provide one new chilled water building pump (P-9) with VSD. Pipe new
pump outlet to all three zone supplies. Refer to Detail 3/M-103.

GENERAL NOTES:
1. Contractor shall route and install all new piping in a manner to ensure clearances and accessibility within the mechanical room
and around equipment is maintained. Contractor shall route piping to provide offsets to avoid interference with structural
elements, equipment, electrical panels and junction boxes, etc. Existing piping shall be modified if necessary to allow the
installation of new systems within the mechanical room.
