ART HIVEIF ONLY WE WORSHIPPED LOVE

The fragility of hope and the dance of time,transcending into one another;

Heroes of War may not be forgotten,but Heroes of Love must be worshipped;

When the cause is so giving no power can surpass,No truer Deity exists.

The distant memories of mother'stinkling laughter, father's boomingvoice, brother's constant and funnycomplaints on me, resounded in myears; as if a song heard years backwhere the lyrics aren't clear,nonetheless bringing familiarmelodies to the heart.

I turned to my side, the singleexasperating tear flowed across mynose, one eye corner into the other.I woke up from my sleep and blinked,and thought to myself maybe I've notslept at all, or reality was a nightmare.That moment when all three,actuality, dream, and consciousnessmesh together, pulled my body intolazy languidness. And maybe that'swhy the crash stunned me into theever present existential crisis.

Hilariously ironic, how even then Iwas afraid. My entire family, gone,dead. Yet here I was, in anunderground half done bunker, withprobably a million people.

"Once upon a time, there was a littlegirl who was scared of the giant solarflares burning Earth. But do you knowwhat happened then?" A woman inher early 20's asked the child sittingbeside her.

"What happened?" The innocentasked."Well, everything got betterobviously! The sun went back tonormal, the Earth never had bignuclear wars, climate change nevereven happened!" The womananswered.

Another voice from my left started,"Nonsense fairy tales will be the deathof us all. They should be praying likeus instead of wasting their time. Sinshave put us here in the first place!"Being a cynical agnostic, I knew fairytales and faith can work for theinnocents and the believers, however,not for me. I was thankful, I wouldn'tadd on to the ongoing brawls alreadytaking place in the bunker before allof us ended up being ashes anyway. Another crash! The entire bunkervibrated, screams rang, raised thehairs on my neck. This time wasdifferent, I just knew.

"Fire!", someone shouted. The bunkerwasn't holding anymore.A fleeting moment of joy sweptthrough me. Madness, you'd say.There I stood smiling, rememberingvisions of my short life. I was young,hopeful, searching for love. Andapparently dead in a few minutes.Father's unconditional safety,mother's selfless care, little brother'snever ending trust. Whom I'd failed,not being present in their time. Evenso I shall forever be grateful that Icould live a moment of life with themat all. For this is the end. End of life,for each one on this planet, Earth.
