Spring is quickly approaching, especially in Mrs. Wilder’s Kindergarten classroom at Whitley East Elementary. Stephen Crowe, manager at the new Tractor Supply in Williamsburg, stopped by to assist with a lesson in plants. The stu- dents have been studying the parts of a plant, the plant life cycle, and all the ben- efits of plants in our world. Mr. Crowe brought in some potting soil for the students. They each picked out a pack of flower seeds and planted their seeds in the ground. The students discussed what their seeds would need to grow. These necessities include the sun, water, and nutrients from the soil. When looking back on the lesson Mrs. Wilder stated, “The best part of this dem- onstration was listening to the students as they planned what they were going to do with their plants when their seeds finally grew. One stu- dent really wanted to give them to his mother as a gift, while another student had already decided to plant their flowers in a grand- mother’s flower garden.” The flowers are cur- rently starting to grow and the class is excited. The Kindergarten class would like to thank Mr. Crowe and Tractor Supply for com- ing in to our classroom and starting this project with us and also for providing our supplies. We are really excited to see the finished product! Tractor Supply Manager, Stephen Crowe, works with Dalton Hill to plant his seeds during his visit to Whitley East.
