Core Network Technologies Lab 1. Description of Section Responsibilities and Activities

Testing systems, services, protocols, interoperabilitySupporting Medium & Long-term needs for the OTE

Core Network

• Core IP / MPLS (Staging and Pre-Launch Evaluation and Testing of all aspects of IP core network components) & Test Bed

• Broadband Network Gateways (BNGs) (Specifications, Architecture, Performance, Protocol, Interoperability) & Test bed

• IPv6 proof of concept & services tests

• Metro Ethernet (Interoperability, Protocols, new Architectures) Test Bed

• Next Generation SDH (Interoperability & Performance) Test Bed

• TeraStream Architecture (DT-group project)

• Selected Research & Development Projects

2. Key Achievement for 2012

• Successful Completion of BNG tests (for 3 vendors: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel)

• Successful completion of additional tests for Cisco ASR 9000 (BNG) and set-up of new BNG Test Bed

• Successful completion of tests for major upgrade of IOS for the Core Network Cicso 76xx (IOS 12.2 to 15.0)

• Successful completion of all ME tests (Huawei 85xx, 53xx)

• Successful completion of Ipv6 tests (staging network)

• Successful completion of all NG-SDH tests (ALU, NSN, Ericsson)

• Successful completion of all tests for business customers (National Bank, OPAP etc)

• Test Bed set-up for EU project LifeCity

Core Network Technologies Lab

3. Key Challenges for 2013

• Keep up with the tests for all the test-beds

o BNG Test Bed

o Core & Staging Test Bed

o Metro Ethernet Test Bed

o NG-SDH Test Bed

• Become Test Bed for DT Group (BNG)

• Expand participation in R&D Projects

• Support OTE’s Business Customers (proof of concept tests, for presales)

• Expand the capabilities of the Spirent Test Center to keep up with the network demands

Core Lab main Testbeds

• Metro Ethernet Testbeds– Point-to-Point (E-line), Point-to-MultiPoint (E-Lan), Multipoint-to-Multipoint

(E-Tree)– Spanning Tree, LACP

• L2 & L3 Vpn Services• QoS• PPPoE Testebeds

– Session Termination for Static and Dynamic Users– Authentication based on different parameters (circuit-remote id)– Subscriber attachment to VRF– L2TP / LAC operation– Qos applied to Subscribers

• IPTV– Multicast video distribution with MVPN (PIM SSM)

• IPv6– IPv6 subscriber termination (PPPoE) with Prefix Delegation– Dual Stack (for PPPoE sessions)– 6VPE

Projects to be done

• BNG Tests with ASR9K – Migration of Services (L2VPN,L3VPN,etc) from 76xx to the ASR9K.

• 76xx 15.2(4) Validation Tests (L2 Tests, Routing Tests, MPLS Tests, Metro Ethernet Tests, Multicast Tests)

• IPv6 Team - Testbeds
