TENT CITY CONCEPT Portable Restroom is wrapped to look like a Tent City Tent with black doors (tent entries) on the entrances tothe bathrooms. Colors could be red/white striped or green/cream striped (City of Coronado colors) (both existed at Tent City) On the endsyou can have pull backs with historic photos of interior of tent. To camouflage the “box” a faux roof could be constructed and wrappedeither in thatch or canvas wrapping – see above images and next slides. Treatment to the roof would offer relief to the residents in theadjoining Shores building who are looking down on the facility.

Tidepools Educational Concept – the portable bathroom would be a “kiosk style” exterior for a possible learningenvironment, capitalizing on the elements that make Coronado unique, within the indigenous landscape that exists inCoronado. The short ends of the restroom would have a “menu style” board for tide pool education, possibly ocean tideexplanations, water quality conditions (after storms), etc. etc. The overall images would depict ocean life amongst the tiepools i.e. starfish, hermit crabs, sea anemones, possibly a short history with photos. All local photography could be used.
City Hall mural collages wrapped on long sides, one on front and one on back. The doors on the front/sidewalk side would need to be outlined to make visible. Each of the doors would have the universal symbols for restrooms. A semi‐peaked thatch roof, similar to the one that would be designed for the single tent idea, would be made to cover the top of the bathroom unit.
Insert History Text or a Map of Coronado with border on other side
City Mural Concept ‐‐ options for signage on this proposed idea:•Photoshop into the mural some additional sky at the top on both murals, enough to place lettering designing these as public restrooms. •The lettering would be stylized to a late 1800s style font (this would probably require the artist’s permission.•If that isn’t practical, perhaps a lip could be made hanging from the ledge of the top, room for signage that said Public Restrooms, City of Coronado•The short ends of the bathroom could be a brief text panel about the history of Coronado on one side, and the other could be a current map of Coronado, set into a frame that looks like the same time period.

CAC PAWT Recommendations
• Wrap the portable bathroom facility. • A solid color or leaving the facility white will serve as a canvas and encourage
vandalism.
• Signage should be simple and clear and blend with the chosen wrap design.
• Clearly have facility labeled as a public restroom.
• Wrap the roof (either flat or build a faux structure to have a peaked roof) to offer relief to the adjacent neighbors looking down on the facility as well as attempt to camouflage the “boxiness” of the unit.
• Three design options (PAWT had no order preference):1. Tidepools Educational 2. Tent City3. Coronado Historic Murals
