In 1973, the Department of Business Economics, under

the prestigious University of Delhi, pioneered a Masters

Program in Business Economics earlier known as MBE,

combining fundamentals of economic analysis with the

practical aspects of business. Over the years, the department

has evolved into a mature management institute with national

reputation, imparting high quality education to the students. In

the year 2015, the Department awarded the industry with its

new robust and comprehensive course structure MBA (Business

Economics) in place of MBE.

An eclectic and erudite group of faculty, academicians,

researchers and professionals, with their vast pool of

managerial expertise, gives the department its distinctive edge

and an exalted stature. In addition to its Masters programme,

the department also administers Ph.D. program in varied

business and economic research fields. Today the Department

takes immense pride in generating professionals, well versed

with the quantitative and qualitative methods of business

research.

In its illustrious history of 45 years, the Department of

Business Economics holds pride of place in training business

leaders and academicians. Over the years, the department has

fostered strong alliances with corporate houses and retained its

position as their preferred recruitment destination.

course curriculum. During the two-year's Masters

programme, the students are able to acquire strong

analytical skills – both Quantitative and Qualitative

– which equip them to face and overcome the

challenges in their respective professions. Over the

years, the students of the department have

achieved senior positions in many national and

international organizations as business analysts,

financial planners, economic policy makers,

academicians, management consultants etc.

As a result, the department has been able to

create a niche for itself in the industry and is able to

attract among the best students to the course. The

diversity of the students with varied background

such as Engineering, Economics, Commerce and

Sciences helps the students to learn from each

other. The students with work experience add

fervour to the discussions and debates, both inside

and outside the classroom. As the head of the

department, I take this opportunity to invite you all

to be associated with us.

MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT

In an interconnected world, the way business

is done is changing very fast. Some of the old

businesses are fading and are being replaced by

new giants. Many of the 'brick and mortar'

industries are giving space to new knowledge and

internet based industries. The changes have thrown

many challenges as well as opportunities in the new

globalized world. The process of change has been

accelerated by the introduction of Information and

Communications Technology (ICT) as well as the

liberalization of trade and investment.

It is in this scenario that a business

management mindset has to be evolving and

dynamic in approach and an attitude which requires

a deeper understanding of the macro economic

and social environment has to be developed. A

strong foundation is a must for developing an

analytical approach towards business and

government policies in the national and

international arena. The Department of Business

Economics thrives to provide this foundation by

exposing the students to the latest and relevant

Prof. V. K. KaulHead of Department

Page 6: CORPORATE COMMUNICATION · 2020. 10. 8. · international organizations as business analysts, financial planners, economic policy makers, academicians, management consultantsetc

Every year, the course attracts an eclectic mix

of organizations offering profiles in the field of

Consulting, Marketing Research, Analytics and

Business Modelling, Financial Analysis and

Valuation, and Economic Journalism among others.

The number and diverse nature of companies being

added to our 'regular recruiters' list each year

mirrors our belief that we, at DBE, train managers of

tomorrow. As the faculty placements advisor, itis my

privilege to invite you to be associated with our

department.

MESSAGE FROM PLACEMENT ADVISOR

Since its inception, the department of

Business Economics has strived to keep its

curriculum and training methodology in line with

the needs of the industry. The changes in the

curriculum from academic session 2015-16

onwards are a reflection of the Department's

commitment to adapt itself to a changing global

economic scenario and consequent changes in

business environment.

The students at DBE are encouraged to apply

the basic knowledge they gain of all disciplines to

solve problems and case studies. The blend of

theoretical knowledge and its application prepares

our students to face challenges in their respective

professions. The focus is on grooming students to

think, communicate, and work independently as

well as in a team. Managers who can think

dynamically and take well informed decisions are

the real assets of organizations. During the course

of 2 years, students at DBE are trained to carefully

analyse situations before taking businessdecisions.
