SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM (Infant) The sacrament of baptism is celebrated the last Sunday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the Upper church. Parents wishing to register their child for

baptism are asked to contact the rectory and to speak with a

member of the pastoral staff to arrange the date. The instruction class, to which all parents and godparents are invited, is held in the rectory on the Sunday before the baptism at 3:00 PM.

PRIESTHOOD/CONSECRATED LIFE The Archdiocese of Boston will sponsor three vocational discernment retreats in February: Friday, February 21st until Sunday, February 23rd at the Bethania II in Medway and St. John's Seminary in Brighton. This retreat is for men between the ages of 18 and 30. Friday, February 21st until Saturday, February 22nd at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA, your pastor's “alma mater”. This retreat is for men over age 30. Saturday, February 22nd at St. Paul's Parish in Cambridge. This retreat is for women between the ages of 18 and 35. In addition nearly every religious congregation of women offer their own retreats/days of prayer and are open to older women as well. If you are interested, contact Fr. Mawn who will make a referral to the appropriate program. These are “come and see” gatherings with no commitment.

CUSTODIAN/SACRISTAN Our current custodian/sacristan, Jose Valdes, will be retiring as of March 1, 2020, after many years of faithful service. His job description will be posted on the Archdiocesan website “rcab.org” click on to employment in a parish, Merrimack Region. This is a full-time position for a person who should be bilingual: English and Spanish. We also hope to have printouts of the job description available in the office. Candidates should prepare a description of their work experience to give to the pastor and business manager.

DAY OF PRAYER On Wednesday, January 22nd, all dioceses in the USA shall observe a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade legalizing abortion. The governor of Virginia has stated that parents should be able to abort their child AFTER he or she is born!

The Rectory will be closed this Monday, Jan. 20th for the Holiday: “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day”. Mass will be at 9:00am in the lower church.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES Classes are held on Sundays as scheduled. Students in K-8 meet at the Parish Center approximately three times per month. High School Confirmation students meet in the Rectory Meeting Rooms about twice per month. All classes are held from 10:15-11:45. Registration is ongoing throughout the year and may be done at the Parish Center when classes are held. Sacrament preparation is included for students of all ages. For further details you may call Mary Crow, the Director of Religious Education, at 978-504-9308. For Spanish, call Ivette Chakar at the Rectory during office hours.

WEATHER CLOSINGS & DELAYS The Winter Season is upon us and we would like to inform you that you can check weather cancelations or delays on any of the activities of the parish on Channel 5 WCVB or their website www.TheBostonChannel.com. We suggest to the parents who have their children enrolled in our Religious Education Classes that they can sign up to receive closing and delays via text message to cell phones or PDAs. They can sign up for the service by going to TheBostonChannel.com and then to the Weather section. Once there, they can click on the Closings icon to go through the sign up process.

Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Latin America. For many in Latin America and the Caribbean, a rising secular culture, difficult rural terrain,

and a shortage of ministers all present obstacles to practicing the faith. Your support for the collection provides lay leadership training, catechesis, priestly and religious formation, and other programs to share

There will be a Parish Council Meeting this Monday, January 20th at 7:00 pm in the Rectory.

Anointing of the Sick Next Saturday, January 25th, immediately after the 4:00 PM Mass on the last Saturday of the month we will have the anointing of the sick. Those who want to be anointed should sit in the front pews.

from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. Please give a half hour or hour of your time to come in and pray for your special intentions and those of our parish.

Some people find it agonizing to watch the various contests on television that search for the best talent, the best singer or the best inventor. So often, the contestants are equally gifted and making a choice is difficult, even painful. No one wants to leave someone good behind, but there must be a winner and so we choose. Marriage is about choices. We choose to love our spouse. We choose to love our children. We choose to believe, to care, to do good, to live faith, even when things are not going well or when there are problems and crises to face. How would life be changed if we had made a different choice, if we choose not to love, or care, or believe? Life would be empty indeed. The choices we make are part of our calling, our vocation in life, to be witnesses to faith and following the way of Jesus to holiness. It may not be glamorous, or even exciting.
