Its primary purpose is to improve continuously the integrity of, and to reduce the incidence of serious misconduct and corruption in, the Western Australian Public Sector and to combat and reduce the incidence of organised crime. It does this by: Understanding the operating environment, identifying areas of greatest risk of corruption and serious misconduct in the public sector and focusing its resources accordingly in the pursuit of high value organisational outcomes. Receiving and determining the most effective methods for responding to and dealing with allegations of serious misconduct and corruption. Conducting investigations into allegations of police misconduct and positively influencing WA in the prevention of police misconduct. Undertaking targeted activities to increase the capacity of public authorities to combat serious misconduct and corruption. Working co-operatively with the WA Public Sector Commission to deliver an integrated approach to managing misconduct risks across the public sector. 1

Organisational Context

The Corruption and Crime Commission ("the Commission") is a leading Australian anti-corruption agency, established by the Corruption, Crime and Misconduct Act 2003 ("the CCM Act"). Its primary purpose is to improve continuously the integrity of, and to reduce the incidence of serious misconduct and corruption in, the Western Australian Public Sector and to combat and reduce the incidence of organised crime.

It does this by: • Understanding the operating environment, identifying areas of greatest risk of corruption

Purpose of this Position

The Project and Compliance Officer undertakes project management and manages the Directorate's governance/compliance framework. This officer operates proactively to identify issues and trends affecting the compliance framework and operational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities In meeting the requirements of the position, the Project and Compliance Officer delivers the following:

Project Coordination

• Plans, coordinates and provides project or program support for specific projects associated with activities of the Operations Directorate. Prepares reports and other documents to support project outcomes and project management activities as required.

• Prepares reports, working papers and briefing papers for key stakeholders. • Coordinates contracts and contractors and monitors their performance against approved

critical path and budget.

Compliance

• Develops and maintains the Operations Directorate governance/compliance framework, registers and governance mechanisms.

• Monitors and provides advice on trends in compliance operations. • Prepares compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. • Leads and conducts regular audits and reviews of the Directorate's operational policies

and procedures to ensure that these comply with relevant legislation. • Keeps abreast of legislative changes and works with staff across the directorate and

Commission to identity and develop reforms to operational policy and procedures. • Works with senior officers in the directorate to provide direction on

governance/compliance issues and ensuring that changes to work practices comply with all relevant policy and procedures.

Pre-Employment Requirements

To be appointed to the position of Project and Compliance Officer you will need to:

• Be an Australian citizen or immediately eligible for Australian citizenship; • Undergo stringent security vetting to obtain and maintain a security clearance standard to

a minimum of Negative Vetting 1; • Hold a valid Western Australian Driver's License or equivalent.
