Leopard ladder: The safety of the wild animals around them must have been at the forefront of the minds of some villagers in India. Area residents, who live near the Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Predesh, discovered that a leopard had accidentally gotten itself to the bottom of a deep well and was unable to climb back out. With the help of wildlife officials, the residents rigged up a ladder made from available materials—bamboo and rope. They placed the ladder into the well, and the leopard was able to climb up to safety. It didn’t stick around to say thanks, though. It preferred to run back into the jungle. Message in a bottle: A man in Morocco found something interesting on Plage Blanche, a famous beach near the city of Guelmim. Fisherman Hassan Elbaz picked up a bottle and found a note inside. But, as he doesn’t speak or read English, he took the note to his son Ayoub to decipher. The note included an email address, so Ayoub was able to contact the author, who turned out to be a young girl named Shiloe from Long Island, New York (US). With the help of her father, Imtaiz Khokhar, Shiloe had written the note three years earlier and tossed it overboard during a cruise to Bermuda. The bottle traveled nearly 3,000 nautical miles. Stay in the car: When touring an animal safari, everyone knows that you should never leave your car. For a group of five French tourists who were driving through Safari Park Beekse Bergen in the Province of Brabant, Netherlands, that rule didn’t seem to sink in. The two women, along with three children, got out of their vehicle to get better pictures of the cheetahs. When the car first stopped, the cheetahs ignored them, but at a later stop, several of the animals charged and circled the tourists. The group managed to get back to their car unscathed, which was very lucky indeed. The whole thing was video taped by visitors in another car. One ugly dog: Some very sorry-looking canines show up at the World’s Ugliest Dog Competition. Held annually in Petaluma, California (US), the event is a fun way to promote the message that all animals deserve a home. The 2018 winner was an English bulldog named Zsa Zsa, whom owner Megan Brainard found on a pet search website. Zsa Zsa passed away not long after her big win, but she did get to walk down the red carpet at the competition with her long tongue happily hanging out of her mouth. Quoteable Quotes Happen Trivia 1. Everybody’s Talking!Surprising scene: Residents of the town of Neuwied,Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany), got the shock of their lives whenthey were confronted by an African elephant wandering downa city street. The completely out-of-the-ordinary occurrence wasquickly reported to police. When they arrived, they found theelephant’s keepers, who worked for a circus that was visitingthe area, were already on the scene using their animal trainerskills to corral the large pachyderm, whose name is Kenia.Everything turned out well. There was no property damage, noone was hurt, and a calm Kenia was led back home. Beautiful cakes: An artistic woman named Elena Gnut ofKaliningrad, Russia, uses her considerable talents to make anddecorate cakes, and in the process has become a renownedpastry chef. Her often-whimsical designs are so beautiful that it’shard to imagine destroying them by eating them. Designsinclude intricate bouquets of flowers, models of fictional charac-ters, a stork carrying a baby wrapped in cloth, and an angelperched on a cloud. Her tricks include molding into differentshapes and using edible dyes of different colors to paint charac-ters and scenes on her creations. Mmmm, good!Pet mix up: A woman from Jinzhong, Shanxi Province (China),was really enjoying her new pet, but after a while she wondered ifsomething might be wrong with the Japanese Spitz puppy shehad purchased from a pet store. For instance, her pooch did notbark, and it wouldn’t eat dog food. As it grew, its tail became longand fluffy, and its face became pointed. Other dogs were afraid ofit. Eventually, she took the animal to the Taiyuan Zoo where anexpert revealed that her pet was not a dog at all, but a domesticatedwhite fox. Astonished by the news, the woman gave the fox tothe zoo so it could receive proper care.Bad voice: If you are going to be an opera singer, it’s best ifothers like the sound of your voice. Everybody’s Talking!Leopard ladder: The safety of the wild animals around themmust have been at the forefront of the minds of some villagers inIndia. Area residents, who live near the Satpura Tiger Reserve inMadhya Predesh, discovered that a leopard had accidentally gottenitself to the bottom of a deep well and was unable to climbback out. With the help of wildlife officials, the residents riggedup a ladder made from available materials—bamboo and rope. They placed the ladder into the well, and the leopard was ableto climb up to safety. It didn’t stick around to say thanks, though. It preferred to run back into the jungle.Message in a bottle: A man in Morocco found somethinginteresting on Plage Blanche, a famous beach near the city ofGuelmim. Fisherman Hassan Elbaz picked up a bottle andfound a note inside. But, as he doesn’t speak or read English,he took the note to his son Ayoub to decipher. The noteincluded an email address, so Ayoub was able to contact theauthor, who turned out to be a young girl named Shiloe fromLong Island, New York (US). With the help of her father,Imtaiz Khokhar, Shiloe had written the note three years earlierand tossed it overboard during a cruise to Bermuda. The bottletraveled nearly 3,000 nautical miles.
