The Town of Aurora contracts with theVillage for police services under a 5-yearescalating cost contract originally

established in 2008. Current contract ends May, 2013.

from the Town and the Village. The PAC is chartered with monitoring the

police budget and establishing and

presenting a cost analysis of variousoptions for police service, including Town-wide administration, to be presented to theTown Board, Village Board, and the publicno later than May, 2012.

HistoryIn 2008, the police contract provided for anescalating percentage of costs to shift from theVillage to the Town over a 5 year period,ending at a percentage distribution based onassessed value. In addition, an AdvisoryCommittee was to be appointed and chargedwith looking into the feasibility of future

transfer of police services to the Town ofAurora. The wording was a sticking pointduring the negotiations, but the Village andTown agreed.

The advisory committee never convened.

The PAC took a high level look at both thephysical and financial obstacles of transferringthe Village force to Town-wide administration.

These obstacles and costs included:
