THE WORLD IS MINE - Author Unknown Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman and wished I were as beautiful. When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle. She had one leg and used a crutch but as she passed, she passed a smile. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two legs; the world is mine. I stopped to buy some sweets. THE WAY OF PEACE

You look like my brother,

Why should we fight and kill?

And you look like my sister,

Loved and remembered still.

And all those other people,

Like some I used to know,

My childhood friends and absent friends

I lost so long ago.

If we are all one family

Why can’t we seek and find,

A better understanding

With HOPE for all mankind?

You look like my brother,

Let friendship now increase,

And clasping hands around the world

We’ll find the way of peace.

Iris Hesselden

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples

that she had seen the Lord and that he had

spoken these things to her. John 20:18

In the Hebrides people used to believe that the sun dances for JOY on Easter Sunday. An old lady said she had once been fortunate to witness it. She climbed to the top of the island’s islands highest hill and waited. She said that when the sun appeared it was certainly dancing for JOY in exultation.

You know, there is something about this time of year—EASTER. I always feel that there is something particularly special. It is a time for thoughtfulness and reflection, and never fails to bring to my mind those wonderful words of Psalm 46: “Be still and know that I am God.” It is a loving reminder to us all and worth keeping in our hearts not just at this season of the year but at any time when the demands of our world seem to overwhelm us.

God has made many doors opening into truth which

He opens to all who knock upon them with hands of

FAITH

Up from the grave He arose With a mighty triumph o’er His foes.

God loves each of us

As if there were only one of us.

LOOKING BACK :

“FORECAST FUNDRAISER”

This was a Chaplaincy wide fundraising competition, to pit

yourself against the year ahead. We, in Albir, had 100 entry

forms to sell at €5 each. Thanks to some members taking

several to sell to friends outside of the church we did really

well, raising €450. Winners will be announced in the first

half of January 2018—for a prize of €250

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER—As always, this was the 1st Friday of March.

“Am I being unfair to you? “ This year the service was been written by the

women of the Philippines. There were reading parts for 10 people—thank you

to all those who took part. Thank you to Harold for the music. After the service

we enjoyed refreshments typical of the Philippines. There were 44 of us attended.

21 March 2017

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL

CHURCH MEETING

As always this was an

uplifting and spiritually

inspiring meeting. There

were six of us from Albir

in the meeting.

Soup Sundays have been renamed Social Sundays because it is not always soup that is being served for lunch. We have enjoyed scones, salads, croissants, ham & pickles—so this is a more apt title. During LENT Hazel invited us to her home on Wednesdays for a variety of soups and breads—This was a fundraiser which realised €371 We celebrated two CHRISTENINGS since Christmas - baby Fernando in J anuary & baby Jax in February. Lyn & Wyndham Neish celebrated their Ruby wedding anniversary with a blessing during the service on the 5th Sunday of Lent. All of these celebration were happy occasions.

SPONSORED SLIM “Get rid of Fr Marcus” the idea be-

ing, whatever Fr M weighed on Shrove Tuesday was

the weight loss challenge divided between all 21 taking

part across the Chaplaincy. There were 9 from our

Church taking part and we raised a total of €670

& lost a total of 27Kg Added to this is the €100 from

Fr Ray. This was not an easy challenge for any of us!

However, if we weigh 200 lbs on earth we’ll only

weigh 76 lbs on Mars. Therefore, we are not over-

weight, we are just on the wrong planet!

Well done to all.

Happy Easter
