Coupland is a village in Northumberland, England. Itis on the north bank of the River Glen about 4 miles(6 km) to the northwest of Wooler.

GovernanceCoupland is in the parliamentary constituency ofBerwick-upon-Tweed.

LandmarksCoupland Castle is situated in the village and is aGrade I listed building.[1] It is a tower house ratherthan a castle which was probably built at the end ofthe 16th century. The tower has three storeys with anattic on top and a small projecting tower carried up thesouth wall.[1]

A date stone over a fireplace in the tower engravedGW 1615 MW is thought to represent George andMary Wallis owners at that date.[2] It has been addedto over the years and was restored in the 19th century,and in 1820 was extended when a three bayed twostoried house was built adjoining the tower[2][3]

Notable peopleMatthew Culley, High Sheriff ofNorthumberland in 1869, lived at CouplandCastle.
