DennisLeonKnowles DennisLeonKnowles,a 65 year old formerCarey, Idaho resident,passed away suddenlyon Sunday, September29,2013withhis familyby his side in Spokane,Washington. He was born onFebruary 25, 1948 inWendell, Idaho, thefirst born child of LeoThomasandGloria(Holt)Knowles,andattendedschoolsinShoshone,Idaho.HelivedinShoshoneuntilmovingtoCarey in the 1970’s, where he continued to work for theIdahoDepartmentofTransportation.Heretired10yearsagofromIDTandcontinuedlivinginCareyuntilhemovedtoMosesLake,Washingtonthispastyearto livewithhisdaughterandherfamily. Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyedsalmon and steelhead fishing along the Salmon River andtrout fishing inthestreams,creeksandreservoirsthrough-outtheregion.Helovedhuntingdeerandelkalloverthearea’ssagebrushuplandsandforestedmountainsandchasedtheelusivechukars across the foothillsofSouthern Idaho.Hispickupandcamptrailercouldbeseenparkedatafish-ingholeorahuntingspotduringallfourseasonsoftheyear.Dennislovedtheoutdoorsimmenselyandsoughtthepeaceandserenityhefoundthere. Helovedhistimewithhisdaughter,grandkidsandson-in-lawandsharedmanyofthesameinterestswiththeminclud-inghunting,fishing,camping,DutchOvencooking,ChipotleTabascoSauceandrelentlesslyteasingoneanother.ItwasajoyousoccasioninhislifewhenhemovedfromCareytolivewiththem.Hewillbemissedbyallwhoknewhim. WaldoC.Jones Waldo C. Jones, 85, a longtimeresidentofnorthShoshone,passedawaypeacefully intoeter-nitywithJesusonSeptember24,2013, atSt.Luke’sMagicValleyMedical Center in Twin Falls ofagerelatedillness. Waldo was born on April 18,1928 in Shelley, Idaho to parentsNellie (Cody) and Charlie Jones.Hewasthe8thof9children,6liv-ingtoadulthood.Hemovedwithhisfamilyin1937tobecomehomesteadersonlandinnorthShoshone. HeattendedschoolinShoshone,playingfootballandwasaboxingchampion,graduatingin1946. HeproudlyservedhiscountryintheArmyinpostwarGer-many.Hecherishedthosememoriestotheend. In1954,hemarriedJeanKelley.Theyhad6children;Char-lene(Ted),Colleen(Bruce,deceased),Carley(Jerry),Christy(Mac),Charles(Linda),andCraig.Thoughtheydivorced,thefamiliesremainedclose. HelatermetTinkerRiesandtheyremainedinacommittedrelationship until her death in 2010. He became step-dad toMona,Ray,LoriandTurk. Waldoandhisbrother,Elmer,formedabusinesspartnershipthatendureduntilElmer’sdeathin2007.Theywerefarmers,dairymen,andraisedbeefcattleandhorses. He served his community through various organizations,holdingmanypositions.HewasamemberoftheWoodRiverGrangeandservedmanyyearsontheShoshoneSchoolBoard.HealsoactivelyparticipatedintheIdahoDemocraticParty.HewasontheBoardofDirectorsoftheBigWoodCanalCompanyandtheThorneCreekCattleman’sAssociation.Hewashon-oredtobeinductedintotheIdahoWaterUsers’HallofFamein2004. Helovedtofish,nevergoingasoftenasheshouldhave.Hispassionwaspeopleandfamily.Hementoredmanyyoungpeopleandenjoyedfolksofallages,especiallychildren.Ourpatriarchwasproudofhischildrenandhislargeextendedfamily.Visiting

I sent the flowers and they were delivered. One smallproblem the card was tucked under the flowers, there-foremyhandholdingmatewasunable to appreciatemythoughtfulness.Thesalonoperatorhadassumedtheywereforthem.OnlyasshepaidandwasleavingdidshenoticethecardIhadsigned.
