The Courier Tree Permits On Sale The Holidays are fast approaching and permits for cutting Holiday trees for personal or family use on the Sawtooth National Forest will be available beginning this Friday, No- vember 21, 2014. The cost of this year’s permit is $5 which will enable a family to choose and cut a tree up to ten feet in height. If you want a tree that is eleven to twenty feet high, the cost is $10 (limit of one tree per family or organization). Permits will be available at the following locations throughout the Sawtooth National Forest and sur- rounding areas: Fairfield Ranger Station Camas Creek Country Store Rock Creek General Store Hansen Quick Stop & Go Ketchum Ranger Station Sawtooth NRA Office LL Green Hardware- Hailey Stanley Ranger Station Depending on the specific area where people choose to cut their trees, a variety of trees are available. These include lodgepole pine, subalpine fir, Douglas-fir Lincoln Chamber Welcomes New Business The Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on November 8th in Rich- field to welcome a new member and recently opened business. “Off The Gird” owner, Rebecca Wood, was pre- sented a Chamber cer- tificate by Vice President Vernon Johnson and the ribbon cutting was held with members from the Chamber and community members. Off The Grid is a vintage, antique and Idaho handcrafted busi- ness located in the historic Paulson Motors build- ing. Wood said that the antiques fit right in with their surroundings in the unique old brick building. She specialize in antique, handcrafted, Idaho artists, vintage, one of a kind, and western living décor. Some of the things you might find on any given day, are antique tack, barn wood creations, antique trunks and tables, carnival glass and more. Off The Grid is also ded- icated to promoting local artists and has an artist of the week, each week, who is advertised and promot- ed. Johnsonpassedfromthismortal life into thearmsofheronetruelove,herhusband, Dick, on the eve-ning of November 10, 2014inDraper,Utah.GudrunwasbornonMarch9,1934inJe-rome, Idaho to Hyrum Lynnand Maibelle Ruth Jensen.She grew up in the Hager-man/Tuttle area where shewastheoldestof4daughters.Theyhadmanyanadventureonthefarmandcanyonrim.Shelearnedtoworkhardandbeproductiveandhowtomakedoordowithout.Shegradu-atedfromHagermanHighSchoolin1952.Followinggradu-ation shemoved toTwinFalls to attendBusinessSchool.SheworkedforseveralyearsatKrengel’sHardwareStoreinTwinFalls,Idahoastheirmainbookkeeper.ItwaswhileworkingatKrengel’sthatshemettheloveofherlife,Rich-ardJohnson.TheyweremarriedonApril29,1961inJerome,Idaho.Outofthisunioncame4children.TheymadehomesinTwinFallsandJerome.In1971,theytraveledasafamilytotheIdahoFallsTempletobesealedforeternity. Gudrun was a talented seamstress, master crocheterandgardener.Shecannedandpreservedmanythingsandcouldstretchadollarbetterthananyoneweknow.Sheloved getting ready for Christmas and spent the entireyear shopping tomakesure therewere lotsofpresentsunderthetree.ShewasanactivememberoftheChurchofJesusChristofLatter-daySaintsandservedinmanycallings. She always found her greatest joy in servingothers.Shewasquickobserveandthenserve. Gudrun is survived by three children: Martha (David),Todd(Crystal),andMelinda(Doug),eightgrandchildren:Jordan (Corina), Devan, Landan, Austan , Kayla (Sean),Katie,Boden,andTaesh,1greatgranddaughter,Reagan.Sheisalsosurvivedbytwosisters:Janet(Roy)andEmmaLou,manyniecesandnephews,andhertrustedcaninecom-panion,Okie.Shewasprecededindeathbyhersweetheart,Richard,oneson,herparents,andasister. Then I wentbackintotheshoptogetmyphonecharger.WhenIcameoutmycarwasrunning,tryingtowarmitself,andIstartedtoopenthedoor.Itwouldnotopen.Theicehadnotfrozethedoorlatch,butthecardecidedtolockmeout.Needlesstosay,itslittleactionmademealittlefrustrated. I rummaged through the shop and found a few largescrewdrivers.Mythoughtandworrywas,“wouldthecoldwindowbreakasItriedtoopenit?”Afterawhileofwork-inginthedark,Igotthedooropen.Puttingmywarmgearin the carmayhavebeen a little early.Me forgetting toleaveawindowcrackedsoIcouldgetinmayhavebeentheprocedureIforgot todo.I’mnotusedtolockingmyvehiclesand for them todo it themselveswhile theyarerunning,isstillbeyondmycontrol. Howoftendoesyourcarlockitselfwhileyouaresittingnext toa locksmithornext toyour sparekeys? Idaho isoneofthefewstateswherepeopleleavetheircarsrunningwhile stopping for coffee, groceries, or ammunition.Wealsohaveextremesintemperaturefromrain,tosun,tofog,tosnow,towind,toothers.Idon’tsseemanyofuschang-ingourcurrenthabitsbecausewehavealreadyconformedtotheweatherconditions. Mostofusarepreparedforweatherchangesandcondi-tions.Asoursuppliesareusedweshouldconstantlycheckour inventory of preparations. Winter is not just a goodtimetoreplenish,it’sanecessity. Asyoureadersknow,Ipassed thestorewhereIcouldhavehadakeymadetellingmyselfIwouldstoplater.Mylaterbecamenowasmysemi-electroniccarremindedme.Ihavesincemadeanotherdoorkeytokeepmerolling(in-steadofstalled).Takeamomenttochecktheinventoryofsuppliesinyourvehicle,andmaybemakesureyoursparekeyisinexistenceorstillwhereyouleftit.

moneyforbonds.ThreetimesnowthecitizensofWen-dellhaveturnedthemdown.Itmakesyouwonderwhyhave they turned it down? Do the repairs need to theschoolandgymneedtobedone?Yes,theydo.So,whyaren’t theygettingdone? That is thebestquestion thatwecanbeaskingourselvesrightnow.Whatcantheydotohelptheschoolgetthemoneythatitneeds?IthinkiftheschoolboardwouldtryaskingthecitizensofWendellwhat theywouldapprove, insteadofgoingafter anun-heardofamountofmoney,theymighthaveachanceatgettingit. Whenthegymatthemiddleschoolflooded,thecitizensofourtowncametogetherandgotthemthemoneythattheyneededtodotherepairs.Theelementaryschooldoesfundraiserseveryyearaswell.Whycanthehighschoolkidsnotdo something tohelp raise themoneyneeded?Thebiggestthingthatisbeingaskedforismoneytodorepairs to the gym.
