CAMPAIGNING AGAINST LAND GRABBING IN LATIN AMERICA

GET AN IN-DEPTH, HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

This is your chance to explore the relationship between US policies and their effect on smallholder farmers in Latin America. You will have the opportunity to be on the ground and discover one of the biggest issues facing the Global South, landgrabbing. This course on land grabbing will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with other youth activists from both Latin America and the rest of the world.

Campaigning against Land Grabbing is an intensive course that will strengthen your knowledge, skills, and stance on the issue. This course will

focus on the land grabbing happening in Latin America, for

example, we will be working on the case of evictions in the Polochico Valley in Guatema la, and developing

a strategic campaign plan. At the end of this course, you will have policy know-how to challenge existingland rights policies and the skills to push for change.

The course will include participants from both South and North

America. Individuals with Spanish language skills are strongly encouraged to apply.

around the Kathmandu Valley. We will visit the often forgotten parts of Nepal as well as historic cultural and religious sites.

You will engage in different activities that will expand your understanding of Nepali culture. By working with Nepalese youth on our excursions and projects, you will gain a better understanding of each other’s

realities. By the end of this course, you will feel truly inspired and be ready to make your mark on the world. Also,you will have developed the necessary tools to examine global issues with a critical eye, to create a

GLOBAL CITIZEN COURSE IN KENYA

In this course, participants will look at how the world works – and isn’t working. Participants will lear activists. We will ar m you with the necessary skills to navigate the issues deeply embedded within Kenyan society.

The Global Citizen Course in Kenya is an unique opportunity to combine your interest in development and knowledge on Kenyan society and learn how to tackle global and local issues. Through participation in local projects and dialogue with young Kenyans, we challenge our own and each other’s principles and prejudices, and gain a new understanding of what it means to be a citizen in a modern interdependent world. You will meet people from around the world who share similar interests as you and you will gain new cultural and political insight. This course will give you a new perspective on

East Africa in regards to politics, development, and culture. You will be challenged through different interactions with local groups such as the Masai. Participants will create individual projects to document their experience on the course.

The Global Platform Kenya is situated in the scenic surroundings at the foot of Mount Kenya, where the Masai herd their cattle. Come join us in a 3-week summer course that will be both challenging, inspiring and a personal eye-opening experience.
