Analyzing an interview

Analyze the transcript of the interview:
1. What type of interview is this? (Structured, Unstructured or semi/structured)
2. Which are open/ended and which close/ended questions?
3. Are the questions biased/leading questions?

Interviewer must: Make the interviewee feel comfortable Be flexible Notice all gestures, facial expressions,
behaviours and attitude of interviewee Understand when it is necessary to ask
open/ended questions to have better results Do not influence the interviewee with your
gestures

respondent/s if they agree to be interviewed, explain the purpose and inform them about all they need to know (see ethics of survey)

Ask to the chosen respondent/s an appointment: time, venue, permission to record etc. (if interviewer decide the venue should be prepared with a friendly atmosphere, not noisy, neutral without influences for the interviewee)
Estimate the length of the interview (you cannot conduct it in 2 times or be interrupted etc)
Record the interview (important to listen and transcribe the answer to code them easily)

Remember questions should be:
1. Clear
2. Non leading
3. Avoid jargon
4. One at a time
5. Use KISS method
