Improved List Views
I love my list but can I make it do this…? YES!• End-user friendly– Enhanced user experience including Ribbon UI and
new multi-selection model – learning curve– Inline editing support…WAY COOL!
Lists
Improved List Views
• Designer Friendly– Rich customization support through SharePoint
Designer while preserving browser UI experience– Extensible and shareable custom styles– Popular designer features such as conditional
formatting
Lists
Improved List Views
• More robust ways to access data– Display enterprise data through Business
Connectivity Services (BCS)– Cross-web list views displaying data from another
web– Display list data joined from different lists
Lists
Visio ServicesOverview3 Areas of interest for Composites• Service application that allows users to share and view Visio diagrams (.vdw file
format) in a Web browser without having Visio installed on their local computer
Visio Services
Visio ServicesOverview3 Areas of interest for Composites• Published diagrams can be connected to various data sources and render
affected data graphics and text fields.
Visio Services
Visio ServicesOverview3 Areas of interest for Composites• Visio also has a new template "Microsoft SharePoint Workflow" that allows you to add new
"Shapes" that can be used to model a SharePoint workflow. The workflow diagram can then be exported to .vwi (visual workflow interchange) file for editing in SharePoint Designer 2010.
Visio Services
Visio ServicesOverview• Data Sources supported by Visio Services
Visio Services
1. Sheet information stored in Excel workbooks published from Excel 2007 or 2010 hosted on the same SharePoint Server 2010 farm
2. SharePoint Server lists
3. SQL Server 7.0, 2000, 2005 (32- & 64-bit), 2008 (32- & 64-bit)
4. OLEDB or ODBC connections
5. Custom Data Providers implemented as .NET Framework assemblies
Data visualization
– Users can use an out-of-the-box Web Part to apply filtering criteria to a diagram to restrict what is and is not rendered
– Contents of the Visio diagram are indexed and are accessible within search results
– .vdw diagrams can only be created by Visio 2010

SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows
• New Workflow Models– Site Workflows: allows workflows to run that are not associated with a list
or a library, they are started manually, through the SharePoint user interface or via the SharePoint API
– Reusable Declarative Workflows: SPD 2010 allows you to create workflows that can be reused and associated with multiple lists or libraries. The ‘Save as Template’ command can be used to create a WSP file containing a reusable workflow which can be moved to another SharePoint server or to Visual Studio 2010
– High Privilege Workflows: you can specify an account to run a workflow as to give it additional needed permissions, individual steps can be added that enable it to run as the author of the workflow instead of the logged on user
SharePoint Designer
SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows
– The Task designer can build a more complex approval process, and you can use very sophisticated workflow logic without resorting to code
– Email enhancements - Subject line had to be a dynamic string to concatenate static content with a variable. String builder is built in.
– Text editor exists in body.– Parallel block - Any actions in the block will happen in parallel; steps
need to be serial– Nested "if" statements– XSN form files are created with SharePoint Designer workflows so they
can be edited in InfoPath– Not backwards compatible - can only be used with SP 2010– SharePoint Designer 2010 is FREE!!!
SharePoint Designer
SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows
– Now allows you to edit the out-of-the-box workflows that come with SharePoint
– If new columns are specified in a workflow, they will automatically be added to the schema of the list that you associate with the workflow, known as associated columns
– User profile data can be bound to properties in workflow, making it possible to get information about the SharePoint user profile. For example, you could look up the name of a direct manager for approvals
