Creating a
logo/font
in the style of
Write out Bulwell Academy in white
using the font ‘Benguiat’ (you can
download this for free)
Create a square
document in
Photoshop with a
black background.
STEP ONE
Go to your layer and click
‘rasterize type’
Make the size of the
font for ‘Bulwell’
bigger than that for
‘Academy’ so the B
and L are wider
than ‘Academy.
STEP TWO
Then use the marquee tool to select the
B + L and make them larger so they sit
lower than the rest of ‘Bulwell’ and
more or less in line with the top of
‘Academy’ (do this one letter at a time)
Use the marquee
tool to select
‘Academy’ and
move it higher
up so it’s closer
to ‘Bulwell’
STEP THREE
Draw 1 above ‘Bulwell’ and then
2 smaller ones at either side of
‘Academy’, just under the B + L
Use the rectangle
tool to draw 3 thin
white rectangles
STEP FOUR
This will allow you to
edit all layers in one go
for speed and ease
Select all your layers
(apart from ‘Background’)
and click ‘merge layers’
STEP FIVE
This will make your layer
completely see through…
Just above your layers,
turn ‘fill’ down to 0%
STEP SIX
… so you should now have a
black canvas
Click on and tick ‘Outer Glow’
Click on your layer
and select
‘Blending options’
STEP SEVEN
Once you’re happy with the
finish, press ‘OK’
Change the colour to red
and play around with the
different options -
opacity/spread/size, etc
