Being Danish and influenced by great Danish design and architecture all my life, I use this approach when I design golf courses. Designing with clean lines and an emphasis on function and beautiful aesthetics creates original golf courses, that stand out in the players mind and at the same time remain economical in construction and maintenance.

I have been associated with Hawtree Ltd. for more than 15 years, and have been studying and working on some of the best courses in the world of golf. I have experience with all types of golf course projects, from upgrading low budget courses, to working with esteemed clients such as Ballybunion, Portmarnock, Lahinch, Royal Aberdeen and Donald Trump on his new links course in Scotland.

My work has always been inspired by the classical British courses and adapted it the modern game. Working on several of the most revered classical courses in the world, as well as some of the lesser known courses, have given me a full and comprehensive understanding of what is needed for a golf course to excel and deliver unforgettable experiences to the players today and in the future.

Through Golf Course Architecture by Caspar, I am now eager to serve my clients and create the classics of the future, refining courses already built and ensuring they realise their full potential.

I have designed acclaimed new golf courses like Trump International in Scotland, Elisefarm and Vallda in Sweden - all courses, that have been highly successful and received high rankings in various golf magazines.

Elisefarm and Vallda have both been seeded with fescue – a grass which has a long heritage on golf courses. The result has been that the two courses have some of the best playing surfaces around and Elisefarm has become a case study for the R & A.

With my work on Trump International Golf Links, Scotland as the lead architect for Hawtree Ltd. I was instrumental in creating a golf course, which continues to achieve tremendous recognition from the players and the rest of the golf world. The course has already been ranked

in the top 10 in the UK and Ireland and playing it has been described, as close to a religious experience.

Working on the Trump project has been a true joy. The site is second to none and the client has allowed Martin Hawtree and me to develop our thoughts and ideas on the ground.

I think the result is a unique golf course - breath-taking in every aspect.

A large part of my work has been working with existing courses, where I have used my experience and craftsmanship to develop the courses and bring out their individual character. I have been working closely together with many clubs to create master-plans for the future of their courses. The master-plan establishes where the course is today and where it is heading in the future. The plan ensures that all changes being made are aimed at improving the course, and that no money is wasted on aborted work. The plan can usually be carried out in several phases at the club’s desired pace.

I have helped develop master-plans for clubs like Ballybunion GC, The Island GC, Zuid Limburgse G&CC and Falkenbergs GK.

Many clubs have also used my services to help develop small parts of the course such as individual tees, bunkers and greens. I see it as an art form to significantly upgrade a hole and at the same time ensure that it is seamlessly integrated into the existing golf course.

I enjoy working on all types of projects and experience real satisfaction in helping to develop courses, and allowing them to reach their full potential.
