Creating the Digipak
Amelia O’Callaghan
As a group we decided we wanted to do a 6-part Digipak. Therefore we divided the Digipak up into two sections each:
Siobhan: Front Cover and Inside Panel
Bonnie: CD background and ‘Thank you’ Page
Amelia: Back Cover and ‘Meet the Girls’ Page
Here in this PowerPoint you will see my process of how I created both my sections.

The average song titles in an album is
around 12/13. Therefore I did 12 songs along with a
‘Bonus Track’.
For the background I created a new gradient on Photoshop. This enabled me to use a variety of ‘pink’ colours as these are the colours associated with the Pop genre. They also relate to our target audience of 11- 16 year old girls.
I included the producing companies logo as that was on my checklist of what needed to be on the back cover from the research I did before making this product.
I looked up what other back covers had when it came to the producing rights on their back covers – I followed the same template yet made the rights appropriate for O.M.G and Syco Music producers.
The writing down the sides I got from researched digipaks. I like the idea of having the group name and main single written down the side reinforcing what the album cover is for. The picture also fit with the Pop genre and to enforce continuity throughout the Digipak the pictures have been used on other slides.
Barcodes also appear on all digipaks so I added one to ours.
When it came to the picture I used the Quick Selection Tool. This allowed me to remove the pictures background and just have the picture of the group. I did the majority with the Quick Selection Tool yet used the magic Wand Tool to get rid of particular colours.
Although not all digipaks do, I decided to use direct address pictures as I fee they connect with the audience more. The long shot of the group also shows them off more and the angle makes he photo more interesting.
To make the photos look a better quality I fiddled with the lighting settings in order to make the picture more luminated. I also got rid of any blemishes to the skin that were really obvious as these would not normally be seen on celebrities.
I wanted this page to appeal to our target audience of 11-16 year old girls. Therefore I made the page very colourful and ‘fun’ looking.
I made the title of the page clear and obvious, the curved effect highlights the idea that it isn't perfect. Which is what the group promote – be yourself! I made the title curved by using the text tool and then going into the features.
For lots of the text I added many layers to make the words stand out. I also used different fonts for each member as the fonts help to reinforce what their profile says about them.

Many digipaks include a competition or quiz question in order to win something from the band. Due to this I created a chance to meet the girls. By putting the opportunity in a shape such as this it not only catches the eye of the target audience but fits with the genre.
