CREATION Bible references: Genesis 1 Psalm 8 Psalm 24:1-2 Discussion starters: 1. What do you think God may feel about the way people treat his creation? 2. In what ways can we improve the environment, or look after it more effectively? 3. Do you think Christians should have special responsibility for looking after the environment? 4. How does substance abuse affect our communities and the world environment? Do your answers to questions 1-3 relate to tobacco, alcohol and other drug use? Activities: 1. Look at some songs or hymns that talk about God’s creation, eg, ‘All things bright and beautiful’. Write your own song, either as a poem put to a recognised tune or from scratch. Try to find an opportunity for performing the song, ie, in a church service or in a display to the parents. 2. Look at some Christian organisations that deal with environmental issues or caring for God’s people, for example, Tear Fund or the Oasis Trust. Perhaps your group could sponsor a tree or raise funds for one of these organisations or for Hope UK. 3. You could ask the group to bring in cans and papers and then take them to a recycling point. Or you could design posters advocating recycling and highlighting the need to preserve God’s beautiful creation.

CREATION

Bible references:

Genesis 1 Psalm 8 Psalm 24:1-2

Discussion starters:

1. What do you think God may feel about the way people treat his creation? 2. In what ways can we improve the environment, or look after it more effectively? 3. Do you think Christians should have special responsibility for looking after the

environment? 4. How does substance abuse affect our communities and the world environment? Do

your answers to questions 1-3 relate to tobacco, alcohol and other drug use?

Activities: 1. Look at some songs or hymns that talk about God’s creation, eg, ‘All things bright

and beautiful’. Write your own song, either as a poem put to a recognised tune or from scratch. Try to find an opportunity for performing the song, ie, in a church service or in a display to the parents.

2. Look at some Christian organisations that deal with environmental issues or caring

for God’s people, for example, Tear Fund or the Oasis Trust. Perhaps your group could sponsor a tree or raise funds for one of these organisations or for Hope UK.

3. You could ask the group to bring in cans and papers and then take them to a

recycling point. Or you could design posters advocating recycling and highlighting the need to preserve God’s beautiful creation.
